Two Rats

Chapter 6

Daniel's POV

-We just finished eating. I sat by a couple of their brothers, Joey and Nick. We talked about basketball and they challenged me to a game later. It is pretty cold outside but I guess they don't care. Me and lauren kept looking at each other and smiling. She sat across the table beside one of her other sisters. I'm guessing it's the oldest one who is married but I don't really know what her name is. I'm still trying to get to know everyone. I was talking to Max and Katherine. Max is a pretty cool guy, he was telling me about how he loves track and working with kids. That's something I would like to do one day but with music.

Once people started getting up from the table Nick called me outside to play the game of basketball we talked about. I went outside and we were just shooting around. Then some more people started coming outside and after about ten minutes I think mostly everyone was out their to watch us play, at least most of the siblings and their s/o's.

Nick : Alright lets start this game.

*he passes me the ball*

Joey : Me and Nick vs you.

Me : What!? Come on that's unfair you'll wreck me.

Chad : I'll join you Dan.

- Chad jogs over to me and grabs the ball from my hand.

Chad : Come on let's destroy these little kids!

-We both laughed and started the game. Everyone watching started getting excited and yelling.

Lisa : Come on Nicky and Jo!! You can beat them!

Christina : Let go guys!

Lauren : Wooo go Nick!!

I looked over at Lauren when she said that and she was looking at me with a smirk and laughed.

Me : *mouthing at Lauren* thanks for the support.

- We played for some time but the kids were running circles around Chad and I, we were terrible compared to them. Joey is a small kid but he has a crazy jumpshot.

We were playing till 21 and they beat us by like 10 points. The girls ran to hug Nick and Joey to celebrate them winning. I had the ball in my hand and lauren came up to me and grabbed it from my hand out of nowhere and shouted "girls vs boys now" as she ran off.

A couple of her other brothers ran on the court along with Christina's husband and Emmyn. Dani, Christina, and Lisa came in too.

I ran towards Lauren to try and get the ball back but she passed it to lisa. She smiled at me and said "wow looks like you're too slow." I laughed and said "alright I see how you wanna play." The girls passed the ball among each other until Joey grabbed it and and went for a layup.

We kept playing like this back and forth until we were starting to get tired. Christina passed the ball to Lauren and she started dribbling it. I came up behind her poked her side getting her to drop the and I was able to grab it. I laughed and started to run away.

Lauren : Hey that's not fair!

-She ran up behind me and jumped on me trying to stop me. Then Dani came up and grabbed the ball from me and took it to the basket and scored. Lauren got off me and ran to Dani along with Lisa and Christina. They all celebrated and all the guys looked at each other laughing.

Me : Wow did you really just double team me!?

Dani : Anything to win haha...

Me : Cheats.

Little Nick : Well sorry to break it to you but us guys kinda won. By a lot.

Lisa : Oh Whatever!!

I walked over to Lauren and she had a big smile on her face.

Me : Nice try but it looks like you lost.

Lauren : You call me taking the ball from you like 10 times losing?? I say I won.

- I shake my head and look at her as she laughs. I got a weird feeling in my stomach when she did that. I was really noticing how beautiful she really is. She looked down as she laughed then looked back up at me and we just stared at each other for a few seconds.

Lauren's POV

- He was looking at me for a few seconds. I got a little nervous because of the way he was looking at me. It was like he was looking at an angel. I decided to break the silence.

Me : So... when am I getting that guitar lesson you promised me.

Daniel : Ah yes! You want to become a guitar legend like me... *he says sarcastically*

Me : Who said you were a guitar legend??

Daniel : Oh I just assumed that because you were swooning over my skills at the show...

Me : Haha Not true! I was wondering where the other guy went because they clearly downgraded.

Daniel : Oh very funny.

-We both laughed and went inside. It was only about 8pm but some people were starting to leave. Chad and Lise already left. I saw Chris and Nick talking to my parents in the kitchen and all the boys were on the living room with Dani and Emmyn who were about to leave. I think Amy already left because she came with Lisa. Katherine was in the kitchen as well. All our friends already left.

I turned to Daniel and decided to ask him if he wanted to leave. I wanted to get to know him some more and I thought this was a good chance.

Me : How about we go to my place and you give me that lesson...

Daniel : That sounds like a plan!

Me : Alright let me get my stuff! Can you give me a ride because I came with Dani.

Daniel : Yea of coarse i'll wait in the car.

- I grabbed my bag and started saying bye to everyone. Before I could leave Dani came up behind me.

Dani : So who you leaving with?? *she said with a grin*

Me : Oh you know... Daniel.

Dani : I knew it!! You totally like him!!!

Me : Calm down Dani, i'll see you tomorrow.

Dani : Alright have fun with your bf!

-I rolled my eyes as i went out the door, then i went to his car. I haven't told Dani about Noah yet because I know she will be mad hearing that i'm letting him back in my life again. What Daniel said about him is probably true. Noah does probably have a power over me. But maybe Daniel can show me how i'm "supposed to be treated" i'll see if that changes my mind...
