Chapter 3

After school Nina went home to drop of her bag and change out of her uniform, since they planned to meet each other at the front of the mall close to the movie theatre at five o'clock. She left a note on the fridge, though she knew her father wouldn't read it since he would be busy with his beer. Nina was the first one to arrive; she walked around the mall until she got a text from Lina. She walked back to the spot where they planned to meet, Lina said herself, her boyfriend, the others and a friend of Lina would be there. Nina thought Lina's friend was very handsome and sexy at the same time. Lina introduced them, she found out that his name was Mickey and he was the same age as her. He was also single but had recently broken up with his two and half girlfriend. When they were done with the introduction they went upstairs to the movie theater to watch a movie. After the movie they went to eat and drink at a Korean restaurant.

They bought alcohol drinks but at first Nina had hesitated about the drink because of her dad but she decided that one drink won't harm anything, so she drank one. In the end when they were about to leave everyone but Nina had few glass to drink. One of her friend became really tipsy so Mickey offer to bring her home and since Nina also wanted to bring her home too he offered to bring her home too. After they planned out who went with whom, they left the restaurant and went their separate ways. Nina discovered that Mickey lived so close to her, that it was around seven minutes away from her street. As they rode the train Nina and Mickey fought with the tipsy friend about how she wanted them to drop her off to the subway only and not take her all the way, but Nina argued back that it was dangerous to go home in the dark while she was tipsy. Nina lost the fight, so they left her at the bus stop and made sure she was on the bus. As Mickey and Nina walked away she told her tipsy friend to text her when she got home and she agreed to that.

When they got into the train and had settled down, they started to talk about each other more.

"So how long have you known Lina for?" She asked.

"Around four years" Mickey replied.

"Oh wow, that's why you guys act like brother and sister. How did meet each other?"

"Actually Lina is my ex-girlfriend cousin; after Rima introduces us we became so close. Even after Rima and I broke up, we continue to hang out together. So... Is this your first time drinking? Because you drank a lot for a first time and you're fine."

"Mmhm, I don't really drink a lot. I've only took a slip from my dad beer on New Year's but yeah that's was my first time drinking a whole glass and more. I'm actually surprise too but I'm just little dizzy. But I'm also feeling fine"

They talked and joked around until it was their stop. They stop at Tim Horton to grab a drink, when they went order their drinks, Nina turned around to find the old man stared at her again and smirk appeared when their eyes met. She turned around as she began to shiver, and goose bumps appeared on her arms. She started to rub her arms to get rid of the bumps but it didn't work. As soon as they got their drinks they left but Nina couldn't stop the shiver she got from him. Mickey noticed the shiver and asked if she was cold or if something was wrong. She replied to him with a yes, so he took of his jacket and gave it to her. She felt his free arm go around her shoulder and brought her closer to him. As he laid his arm around her she didn't flinch, like she would if a stranger did that. They walked to her street in silence as they cuddled.

When they got to her street she was disappointed that her lovely night would soon end and she didn't want it to end, she loved how she felt when she was with him, even though they spend a few hours together. The way she felt when she was with him was like the way she felt when she hung with River, but also different in another way and she couldn't tell why. Nina gave back his jacket to him and they talk more for a few minutes. They hugged each other, exchange numbers and said their goodbyes.

As Nina went inside the house, she noticed that the house was quiet too quiet, she searched around to find any note that her father was home. She couldn't find any signs that her father had come home while she was out, she became worried and started to call people who were still friends with him or bars that he usually go to but she came up empty. With no clue what to do or where to search, she went upstairs and waited for him to come home. Nina was awoken from her deep sleep by a ring from her phone, still half asleep she looked at her call display, saw that it was Scott, a close friend of her father and answered the call.

"Hey Nina, this is Scott"

"Hey Scott, what's up" she said sleepily.

"It's Jack, he's here. He knocked on my front door drunk and past out on my couch. I just wanted to let you know since I promise you I would tell you."

"Oh... He's there huh... Ok, I'm just happy he's safe and at least he knows where to go if he is drunk."

"Me too... How are you? This must be hard on you? How does Jack treat you when he's like this?"

"Umm... I'm fine. It's hard but I'm working on it and... He's good to me."

"Really?"

"Mmhm really, he just past out and I come home late sometime so either he would be asleep or out getting himself drunk," She lied.

"Oh really?"

"Yup"

"Ok well since you fine and I know that he's not physically or emotionally harming you, I'll let you get back to sleep. Goodnight"

"Mmhm... Don't worry I'm fine. Goodnight."

They said their goodbyes and she hung up. She laid on her bed and stare at the ceiling. "What am I doing, lying to everyone about dad? Why I can't just tell them about him," she said out loud. "Well duhh because you love him, and if you'll them they would put him in jail, and you won't see him anymore," she thought as she answered her own question. She looked at her cell phone at check the time. It had been two in the morning and she had to get up at nine o'clock to be at her ten o'clock class. Nina closed her eyes and tried to sleep, luckily she fell fast asleep.

She dreamt about her night with Mickey and was disappointed when her alarm clock rang, when she was about to kiss Mickey. Soon after they met, they started to talked and texted every day like she had with River. As usually Nina hung out with River, Aria and Andrew or just River everyday but she changed it. So she would hung out with River one day and then Mickey the next day. She loved both of them and wanted to have them both but she knew she couldn't. She knew Mickey was not looking for a relationship but whenever they talk, text and hung out it seem to her that he likes her more than a friend. When they were out together at their favorite park or at his house, he would complement her and tell her she was beautiful or that he'd like a girl like her and wouldn't mind if she was his girlfriend. Nina sense signals that he had feeling for her but wouldn't tell her. She also knew River wanted a relationship with someone and he acted like someone is heads over heels with her, she felt the same way but he never talked about how he actually felt about her. Aria and Alex would teased them and tell them they acted like married couples, they would go along with the tease. She thought about both of them a lot and wondered if they actually felt the same way that she thought she did.
