"So that's why Macbeth goes crazy, you get me?" I look up at Mason with hopeful eyes as he takes in the overload of information I told him."But If his wife was so strong why did she kill herself" It felt like I was just gnawing at lose ends with him. For about two hours now I have been trying to get his head around Macbeth but we always end up in a circle.
"Look" I groan "All the horrible deeds had driven her to craziness" I was about to carry on when his bedroom door flies open with a smooth and soft swoosh.
Freya and Jackson come running although Freya looked more panicked than Jackson who looked amused more than anything.
"Hide" Freya warns before ducking under Mason's kingsized bed.
"What happened?" I ask.
"Mason's in trouble again" Jackson sniggers and flops down on the bed.
I wanted to ask further but a loud booming voice echoed passed the door "Mason George Bolt do I have to-" A tall middle aged man stands in the door frame, a look of petulance had his features captivated but his face went soft for a moment when he saw me "Oh, sorry I didn't know we had company" He continues to look at me.
"Yea this is Brooke she's tutoring me in school work"
"Well Mason your mother and I did say that we'll be paying for a much better and very capable tutor" He looks me up and down and suddenly I felt really self conscious "Not this young teen girl"
Excuse me?
This 'young teen girl' is responsible for caring for very boisterous kids and two of them.
"DAD!" Mason exclaims "She's a bright student she's here to help" Mason's words just reflect back as his dad's eyes become more hostile.
"Mason I'm not here for this, funny enough you've done something else that I would like to discuss" When Mason doesn't move his dad stamps his foot "Now. In the kitchen"
"Ok, fine, fine" He waves his hands up in defence "I'm coming" He gives me a reassuring glance before following his dad out.
"I'm sorry you have to endure this Brooke but I would like a word with my son" Mr Bolt says sincerely.
Wait?
So first he has a go at my skills just because of my age and then does not only not apologise but apologises for his son who hadn't done anything wrong.
I was left speechless.
I didn't know why I was getting defensive over Mason but for some strange reason I was.
"So your Mason's girlfriend?" Jackson blurts out whilst still maintaining his not fazed face- me on the other hand didn't do so well to keep my cool and collected expression and instead it contorted a bit.
"Errr, no I'm not the girlfriend" Jackson still didn't look convinced but he doesn't say anymore.
Freya had now moved from under the bed to beside her brother "Melody said you don't have time for boyfriends"
Wait what!
"She said what?" I pierce my ears so this time I didn't miss any words even the ones between the lines.
"She said that you're to busy doing grownup duties that you have no time to date"
Suddenly more weights kept being added to my jar as it kept getting harder to pick up off the floor.
"I've got to go" I rush out almost in a whisper "Bye" I hum at them as I scrunched everything in my bag not caring if things got creased and hurried out the door.
