My Beta Mate

Unexpected

Jacks P.O.V

I studied her face to see for a reaction. It was as though she had realised something.

"It makes sense now." She said.

"It does?" I was t quite sure where this was going.

"One of the families I stayed with before I stayed with Mrs.Greenwood had a son. He was much older than me but he used to read stories about werewolves and I couldn't remember where I'd heard the words pack and alpha and beta before but I remember it was from his books! God, how could I have forgotten them?" She rambled.

"That means I'm a werewolf then doesn't it?" She asked.

"Yes but have you had your first shift yet, it's what happens to you when you change into a werewolf for the first time?" I asked her.

"No? Not that I can remember." She asks and I try to think of why she hadn't shifted yet.

"Wait. So if Conor is the alpha then he is in charge right?" She asks and I smile at how much she already knows.

"Yeah, that's right." I smile. She smiles back and replies with "so, what are you?".

"Beta, second in command" I tell her and she looks surprised.

Her face drops all of a sudden and she looks at the ground. "Oh, I forgot one. A-um-a mate. Have you got a mate?" She asks. I can see her expression and how she is trying to show a fake smile.

"Yes" I reply and her face drops and her head falls slightly.

"Oh. What's she like" she asks and I can tell she isn't really interested.

"Oh she's beautiful. She has glossy brown hair, shimmering, brown eyes. She has a slight temper but her heart is in the right place. She's got a caring and loving nature and she's a little bit broken but I can't wait to fix her." I tell her.

"She sounds-um wonderful. Is she pretty?" She asks.

"Pretty? No, she's gorgeous, I couldn't think of anything better than seeing her face and seeing her smile." I say again.

"You too sound perfect together." She says, I can tell she's upset.

"I know, she's everything to me. Mind you, you probably know more about her than I do." I suggest.

"I do?" She asks me with confusion in her voice. "Yeah, you do. And you want to know why?" I ask her.

"Um why?" She asks.

I take a step towards her and cup her cheek in my hand and hold her round the waist, pulling her closer to me. "Because she is you." I say ands he realises what I'm about to do. I dip my head and kiss her softly almost immediately she kisses me back. It is a slow and soft kiss and her lips, wow. Her lips taste like the sweetest things I've ever tasted in my whole life. I pull her as close as I can and carry on massaging her lips with mine. Once our make out session has ended, I look down at her and rest my head against hers and try to steady my hard breathing.

"You have no idea how long I have been waiting for you to come into my life." I whisper.

"I don't think it's been as long as I've been waiting for someone like you to rescue me and help me start a new life." She replies back. I give her a peck on the lips and lead her towards the door.

"Let's go see your new home" I tell her.

She grabs my hand and says, "lets".
