Maddies P.O.V

As I made my way out of a small building that looked like a small house, I walked across a field and ahead of me, I could see a much bigger house.

"It's so big. What is this place?" I asked. I was completely astonished at the sight in front of me. It was a large building with about 4 floors and lots of windows. It looked so modern and homely as it sat in the middle of the woods.

"This is the pack house. Everybody in the pack lives in the one house but me and Alpha Connor live in two separate houses but I haven't moved into mine yet though. Still getting built and I was waiting to move in when I had found my mate so it could be a real family home." Jack told me.

"How many is everybody? Like 100?" I asked jokingly. Probably only 10 people.

"Close! There are about 175 families in that one house alone." Jack said.

I was dumbfounded as I imagined over 175 people under one roof. How was it big enough? I suppose most houses are like this but I've been so used to living in one cramped, dark basement for so long that I can't remember what anything looks like.

Me and Jack walked through the doors of the big house and inside, all of the women stopped chatting, all of the children stopped playing and all of the men (some of them I could remember from earlier) looked up at me and jack. I had to look away because of the hundreds of pairs of eyes staring at me.

"This is Maddie. She was taken away from the pack when her parents were killed in a rogue attack when she was a baby. Today, we rescued her and brought her home. Welcome back home Maddie!" Jack said and everyone cheered.

Most people would be happy right now but I was still playing over what Jack said in my mind. Rogue attack? It was a gang? It wasn't werewolf related? was it? Someone covered up the truth. That meant I had been told a lie my whole life. I believed it! I looked at Jack and his smile dropped slowly.

"Maddie? Is something wrong?" He asked.

I couldn't reply. It was too much. I walked past him and down a hallway. I wasn't sure where it lead but I has to get away from everyone's gaze. Everyone who knew more about my life and my parents than I did.

"Maddie wait!" Jack called as he jogged to catch up with me. Closely behind him was Connor and a woman with beautiful, black hair and a concerned look on her pretty face.

I didn't stop, I carried on walking quickly. That was until I was stopped in my tracks by Jack who was holding my arm. I ignored the tingles and ragged my arm out of his grasp.

"A rouge attack?! A fucking rogue attack!" I shouted. Connors face was angry.

"What have I told you? You need to calm down and respect your beta!" He threatened me.

I shoved him away and shouted back,"No! I won't calm down! I have been told lies my whole life! All these years I have been told my mom and dad died in a gang attack! Not a rouge attack!" I started to cry, "all the families who promised me they were different and that they'd look after me! None! Out of the 16 families who said they would love me, none of them were able to keep their promises!" I felt like an ocean of emotions had just been released, "the only promise I was glad got broken, was the promise Mrs. Greenwood made to me when she said I would never leave that house!" I sobbed.
