I trained four days out of seven. I had two days for chemo and one for resting. I had Austin at my side most times. He introduced me to a man named Allen Jones. I looked shocked as Allen was none other than AJ Styles. I even saw the P1 tattooed on his arm.
"Hello, Miss Lopez." He said in that damn southern drawl. What is it about that voice that makes a woman go crazy? I could only wonder. Austin looked at him.
"Dude, she's speechless."
"Does she speak English?" He asks.
"Dude, She married Ty."
"There was someone crazy enough to marry Tyler Black's ass?"
"I also have twin girls with him too." I said.
"Good lord, she speaks." Allen said with a smirk.
I showed him the picture on my Ipod. He smiled.
"Those are two cute little girls. They take after their mother cuz they sure as hell don't look like their daddy."
I laughed.
"Oh but they do. Niella especially has her daddy's eyes. Everytime she cries, it breaks his heart."
"When babies cry, it breaks their daddy's hearts. No matter what." Allen said.
"Elena's the toughie of the two. She has my spirit, no doubt."
Allen looked at the picture.
"Which is Elena?" He asked.
"The one on the left."
He saw the baby smiling at the camera.
"Oh yeah, that's a killer smile."
"She's my heartbreaker."
"They'll both break hearts."
I heard "I Will Not Bow" and decided to try the weights. The blood coursed through me as Austin was my spotter.
"You can do this. Pain is weakness leaving your body, Linds."
I wanted to cry as I took the hundred pound weight down to my chest. I lifted it back up and Allen watched me.
"You do that better than most women. Sure you don't wanna try your hand in NJPW?"
"What's that?"
"New Japan Pro Wrestling. We'd get you so trained Paul wouldn't know what the hell to do with you."
"Stephanie and Paul don't know what to do with me now."
Both men laughed.
"I saw what you did to those girls. Phil taught you the Go to Sleep didn't he?"
"Yeah, I just kind of, you know...did it my way."
"A straight roundhouse kick is killer. You take heads off with that. Damn, that's sexy."
"Dude, stop, Ty will kill you." Austin said.
"I am the phenomenal one. I got this."
He walked up behind me. I could smell the mixture of Armani Code and sweat. My thoughts were going a mile a second and I just focused on the last rep.
"You did awesome, Linds. Take a break."
"No, I want to keep going."
"You're going to wear yourself out, Woman." Austin said to me.
"I know my limits. I hate that you have to tell me that."
"Take it easy, Love. You're going to get through this." Allen said. He called me Love. I didn't know how to take that. I kept praying for answers. At the clinic the Chaplain sat with me almost every other night. I didn't want to take up his time but somehow I knew God would help me through all these problems, even if Colby couldn't.
"You're right." I said putting the weight back on the bench.
Allen looked at me.
"I have a wife just like you. Determined to get through almost everything with a smile on her face no matter how broken she is internally. She, like you, puts up with a husband in the spotlight. You'd be fascinated to say the least to know that she likes your style of wrestling. You're amazing to her."
I smiled. I had an amazing fan in AJ Styles' wife.
"What else do you want me to teach you?"
"A phenomenal entrance of course."
"We'll work on that."
I laughed.
"I want to know one thing. If I decided to leave WWE, could I bring my girls?"
"Depending on what Colby says,"
"I forgot, I have to run it past him." I said smiling.
"Honestly, with training like yours, you'd be outlawed from NJPW."
I looked depressed.
"Women as trained as you are, with your lineage, wouldn't be allowed in NJPW without an intense test of strength and right now, honey, you're not strong enough."
Those words further angered me. I knew in my spirit I was stronger than most people. I just wished my body agreed. I returned to the clinic and laid in my bed. I hated what I felt like. Austin watched me for a second.
"Lindsay, stop. You're going to hurt yourself."
"No."
Fifteen minutes later, I felt my leg turning to jelly and I collapsed. Thankfully I had nothing in my hands. Austin and Allen looked at me.
"You're done."
I felt frustrated. Austin put an arm around me.
"You're going to be fine. You just need to let your body relax."
I started to cry.
"I miss my babies, my husband, my dog, my career, everything."
Austin looked at Allen. I knew the look well.
"Dude, go. I got this." Allen said.
Austin left me alone with Allen.
"Part of being a trainer is knowing when the person you're training is in pain. I know it isn't easy right now to keep fighting like mad but you are. Yes, you sacrifice for your family, your friends, and even sacrifice for yourself but the best thing is all the sacrifice pays off in the end. First thing you need to do is listen to your heart for as cliche as that is, then listen to your body. If they agree, keep going. If they don't, stop. You're going to get through this, Lindsay. I'll be here and so will everyone else. You just have to breathe."
With that, my phone rang.
"Hello,"
"Lindsay, it's Randy."
"What's up, Dude?"
"This isn't a pleasant call but you might want to think about talking to Colby."
"Why?" I asked.
"He had someone on the bus playing with the girls and it wasn't Candy."
"He has family, Randy."
"If family includes a dark haired pregnant chick that looks a lot like his ex girlfriend, then yeah, I'll buy that but you seriously need to talk to him."
My heart sank into my toenails. I couldn't believe he had Leigha on the bus with our daughters. I wanted to explode. Instead, all I could hear was Randy yelling my name into the phone as the world went black.
