Chapter Forty Eight

I returned to my dressing room and saw my babies. Candace looked at me. 

"Thanks for bringing me with you to Chicago. I have a question for you." 

"Yeah?" 

"Do you think I'd make a good mother?" 

I looked at her shocked. 

"What do you mean?" 

"I don't know but I think I'm pregnant." 

I sighed heavily. 

"Are you afraid of what Jon will say?" 

"I'm afraid of everything." 

"First of all, don't be. I'll be here to help you. Second, I would tell Jon the truth. Tell him you think you're pregnant." 

"What if he panics?" 

"Then he panics. He'll be okay about it sometime." 

"Phil never did anything with me. He..." 

"Got engaged. I know this." 

"He just wanted someone to talk to for a while. He reconsidered ownership after April..." 

I smiled warmly knowing that Phil found some sort of peace after he left. I miss him. 

"Are you worried about being pregnant, Candy?" 

"Yeah," 

"Well, we're leaving for Chicago in a few minutes. When we get there, I'll get you seen." 

"Thanks." 

"No problem." 

I looked around for Chel and Joe. I saw them hugging and Joe kissing both Chel and Maya. 

"Hey babe, take care of Maya for me." 

"Ya know, you never call her by her first name." 

"It's because I don't like it. I never did. It's his name for her." 

"I know." 

"Who names a little girl Joel." 

"It's Joelle and I know." 

"I loved Maya from the moment you told me you were pregnant. Who told him he could have any say in naming her?" 

"Apparently a judge." 

"Well, that judge needs some justice." 

I walked into the room. 

"Hey peeps." 

"How're you feeling, sis?" Chel asked. 

"I'm going to Chicago for a while for a vacation, treatment, ya know." 

"Yay! you're going to be near us. We're in Decatur for a while." 

"So you're flying with us?" 

"Yes, Ma'am." 

"I'm excited." 

"We're going with ya to Chi-town for a few days." 

"I'd love that. I don't know what's going to happen." 

Chel hugged me. 

"It'll be okay." 

"I heard part of the conversation with Joe. Maya's real name is Joelle?" 

"Yeah. Zach wanted Maya named after his dead brother Joel. I wanted something cute. Well, the dick decided to force me to name her Joelle." 

"How?"
