You were a mess when we met
And a mess when I left
I cherished you
But your life wasn't one for me
Your way of living
Was something I couldn't agree to
And I'm sorry that I left
When things started to get bad
But you let me
I couldn't save you
I think we both knew that
And you chose not to save yourself
You chose to let the addiction get the better of you
And there was nothing left I could do
