I've watched you let your dreams go
I've watched addiction take its hold
It's been hard for me
Because of how much you mean to me
How much we have shared this history
And sometimes late at night you still cross my mind
Not because I'm still in love with you
But because I wish nothing but the best for you
And it's hard to watch you waste away
You work at a dead end job
You've been arrested
For carrying your vices with you through life
You've crashed your car
And all of this has happened
But you still cannot see
That I'll always care for you
Whatever my name means to you
I know it will never be what your name means to me
But my thoughts and prayers follow you
As I am left watching
Unable to utter a word
As I watch you stray further and further
From the person I know you are
Into the person you've become
