"You're with him again? M/n he does nothing but hurt you." His best friend, Minho, reasoned as he was currently sitting on M/n's bed."I know, I know...but I love him, Min."
M/n responded as he ran a hand through his (h/c) soft strands. He and Chan have been in an on and off relationship for a year now. Minho, who witnessed M/n cry his heart out everytime, highly believes that he's the reason why M/n has trust issues these days.
"If it wasn't for that one night, you wouldn't be standing here in an on and off relationship." Minho stared as M/n kept quiet, knowing that he was completely right.
M/n knew that Chan was a reason on why he had trust issues. He was known for being a naive person when it came to love, so when he found Chan cheating almost every night, it tore M/n's heart to pieces.
"He told me that he's going to change his ways..." M/n mumbled, fiddling with his fingers as he didn't want to look at Minho's brotherly stare.
A sigh escaped Minho's lips as he got off the bed when he heard a faint knock from downstairs. "That's probably him, I still don't trust that guy." Minho said while going to answer the door.
Minho was completely right, but it was too late for M/n to turn back. He was too in love with Chan, and the other knew that.
Plopping on his bed, M/n covered his eyes with his arm as he thought deeply on how he was going to face Chan.
"Babe, are you sleeping?" Chan softly spoke as he knocked on the door before entering.
Shaking his head, M/n removed his arm from his face and gave him a soft smile. "I was just thinking about something." M/n said back while letting Chan kiss him on the forehead.
"I found a new cafe that I think you would like." Chan said while laying down next to M/n.
The male hummed as he couldn't really figure out what he wanted to say to Chan. Sure, he wanted to ask if they could actually be in a relationship, but he knows that Chan wouldn't never commit to that.
Getting up from the bed, M/n clapped his hands together before giving Chan a smile. "Let's go to that cafe."
The two boys made their way to the cafe that was actually walking distance to M/n's place. He had to text Minho to let him know that he was going out just to make sure that he wouldn't cook dinner for M/n.
"How long has it been since we went out on a date?" Chan chuckled while holding the door open for M/n who thanked him before looking at the menu that was on the wall.
The answer that M/n wanted to give the blonde, was rather bittersweet since the last time they went out together was when it was their first date. It bothered M/n to know that he was in love with someone that he didn't know when he would come for him.
As Chan ordered for them, M/n went to go find a table to sit at. Minho have been constantly sending him nothing but worried messages for the past ten minutes. If sending threatening messages about fighting Chan with his friends fit in the worried message category, then Minho hit the spot right on...
"They said that it'll take a couple of minutes for them to make our food." Chan spoke while sitting across from M/n, checking his phone before turning it off.
M/n had a lot of things he wanted to say but, he didn't know how to start. Should he start with a simple 'how have you been?' or more a more aggressive question like 'why'd you get back with me?'
Before M/n realized it, he was in a foul mood as he rested his chin on the palm of his hand. "I can ask them to hurry the food up, if you're hungry." Chan said, snapping M/n out of his thoughts.
"I was just thinking..." M/n responded quietly while looking outside of the cafe window.
People were still out at night, bar hopping and having a good time together. Couples were out having their date nights, holding hands, and telling each other about their day. The sight was sweet yet made M/n jealous that he may never get the chance to be like that.
"What's on your mind right now?" Chan asked, seeing how sad M/n was.
Shrugging his shoulders, M/n told the older that it was nothing to worry about. Unpleased with the answer, Chan mumbled an 'okay' before thanking the waiter for bringing their food. The tense vibe seemed to make its rounds to other tables as the cafe slowly grew quiet.
Chan had no idea when M/n stopped talking about whatever was on his mind. Before, M/n told him anything and everything, no matter what the topic was.
He watched as M/n picked at his food before eating and looking out of the window once again. "You would be the perfect role for a scene in a sad music video or something." Chan joked as he laughed at his own joke, hoping that M/n would join in.
Instead, M/n stopped eating and crossed his hands. "Chan, we need to talk." In a serious tone, Chan's smile slowly faded away, being replaced with a slight frown.
"Okay...is everything alright?" He asked as M/n shook his head and took a sip of his drink.
"What are we right now?" M/n asked back while looking into Chan's eyes to see any sign of sympathy or a sign of love.
The table went quiet as Chan couldn't help but hesitate on his answer. Sure, he loved M/n, but now the boy had trust issues that even Chan had a trouble pushing down that wall that was protecting M/n.
He very much enjoys being in an on and off relationship since he's never tied down, but at the same time, Chan misses having M/n by his side everyday.
"M/n, look, you're amazing and I truly love you," he started as M/n sighed knowing that this was going to be the answer, "but with those walls built around you, it's a little too hard for me to get through you."
M/n scoffed from hearing the second part of the sentence. Tears forming in his (e/c) eyes, "It was because of you...my trust issues are here because of you." M/n quietly spoke, voice quivering as he tried not to sob in the cafe.
Bidding Chan, goodbye, M/n left the cafe as he walked back to his apartment where Minho was waiting for him. If only he knew that the trust issues that he developed, were going to bite him back...
