"You have everything right?" Jess asked me.
"Yeah, you?" I asked him back putting the last thing in my bag. We were getting ready for our competition.
We have to meet, whatever that man's name is, at the studio where the competition will be held.
"Yeah. So we're set?" He asked looking around.
"I guess so." I looked at my phone to see the screen glowing up meaning I had a message. I walked over to it, as Jess watched, and picked it up.
I'll be watching you tonight. Make me proud babe... Xoxo
"Who is that?" Jess asked looking over my shoulder.
"I don't know. This is the second message this person has sent me." I said looking over at him.
"What was the first message?" He asked. I pulled it up on my phone and handed it to him. His eyes got dark and he threw my phone on the floor.
"Dammit Jess!" I yelled and grabbed my phone which was now cracked.
"Sorry but Ro you have to find out who that is.
"Jess, I did things in my past. A lot of things. I've gotten texts worse than this. Trust me, it's nothing." I said rubbing the new crack.
"Fine." He grumbled then looked down at my phone.
"I'll buy you another one." His eyes softened as he said this.
"No it's fine. Sam can buy me one or I'll just buy my own." I said shrugging.
"No please. I broke it. And let me buy you a case too. So that never happens again." I reluctantly nodded and he smiled then looked over to the clock.
"We have 30 minutes to get to the studio so we should get going." He said.
"Jay!" Someone called.
"Oh yeah, and Jake's going with us." I glared at him and he smiled sheepishly.
"He wanted to see the dance." I rolled my eyes and grabbed my bags then walked out the room. Jess followed.
"Why do you need four bags?" He asked as we walked down the four flights of stairs.
"Because one bag has clothes. One bag has makeup. One bag has shoes. And the last bag has hair products." I shrugged as if it were nothing, which it wasn't.
"Girls." I could tell he was shaking his head and I chuckled. We reached the bottom and I seen Jake looking up at us. When he saw me he scowled.
"I thought you said YOU have a competition. Why is she here?" He asked with a sneer.
"She's my partner." Jess said and wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
"As in the bed right?" I glared at him and he smirked.
"No Jake. As in my dance partner." He sighed.
"She doesn't look like she can dance." He said.
"You'll see I can do a lot of things that people don't know. Oh wait no you won't because I don't ever want to see you again." I said then marched out the door. But not before hearing Jake's last comment.
"I don't want to see you again either bitch." I heard Jess smack him though so I didn't yell at him.
We all got in the car and in a few minutes we were off.
"Oh Jess can we stop by at my girl's house?" Jake asked and I turned around to smirk at him.
"I can't believe a girl would even want to be your girl." He scowled at me and I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Sure man just tell me where she lives." Jess said and I gaped at him.
"We're really going to stop when we only have 20 minutes to get to the competition?" I asked him incredulously.
"Oh yeah. Hey Jake can't I just drop you off?" He said and I smiled satisfied.
"I promise I'll only take a second." He said and when I heard Jess sigh I knew he was going to say-
"Yeah ok." I sighed and frowned.

It took us five minutes to get to her house so that gave us only ten minutes to get to our competition, not including the time it'll take Jake to do whatever he has to do.
Jake went inside after a lady opened the door. Then less than a minute later a girl came running outside. As she came closer, my body got colder and colder and my stomach twisted in knots.
I'm pretty sure that that girl looked just like my old best friend, Farrah.
"Jay!" She squealed and Jess cringed. He looked over at me and motioned for me to get out with him. I sighed and, with dread, stepped out of the car. Her eyes flew to me and the smile slipped off her face.
"R-rose?" She stuttered and I shifted on my feet with my arms crossed across my chest.
"Um you know Ro?" Jess asked Farrah.
"Ro? You call her Ro?" She looked back and forth between us and I avoided meeting her gaze.
"Yeah. How do you know her?" He asked.
"Rose was my um, my best friend." I looked down at the ground.
"Was?" Jess asked.
"Yeah she stopped talking to me after Chr-"
"Jess can we go?" He looked at me curiously but nodded anyway.
"I'll go get Jake." He walked off leaving me with Farrah.
"Rose why did you stop talking to me?" She asked and I gulped.
"I went through a lot one day and I knew that I would have to leave so I blocked off all communication with the people I cared for." I told her.
"Even Hannah and Natalia?" She asked.
"Come on Farrah, you know it's impossible to cut them off. Not unless I move, which I did." Hannah was my housekeeper and Natalia was my nanny.
"What happened that night? You disappeared for two days and one night we heard about your parents but you wouldn't even talk to anyone ever again after that? Did Chris do something? Did I do something?"
"Um why did you come to Cali?" I avoided her question. She shook her head but answered my question.
"My mom married a man who's a doctor and he works here. He's pretty successful so she didn't want to force him to move with us." She shrugged and I looked behind her to see Jess finally coming out with Jake behind him.
"You know Rose, he's never let a girl call him Jess since his first love that used to call him that broke his heart. Just like how you won't or at least wouldn't let anyone call you Ro because of Chris." Jess walked up and pulled me to him.
"You ready?" He whispered in my ear and I smiled and nodded. I looked at Farrah and seen her smirking at me. I blushed and she just smirked harder. She held up her thumb and pinky telling me to call her and I reluctantly nodded.
I wasn't ready to answer her questions just yet. She kissed Jake and said bye to all of us.
We got in the car and drove off. We had five minutes to get to the competition. Let's hope we'll make it.
