My heart thumped heavily in my chest. For the first time in my years living here I regretted being so far away from anyone else. I always cherished being alone, and now I was in the most dangerous situation I'd ever been in.

I locked the doors, hoping that would give the small door some more support. Somehow, I knew they'd get in eventually. The massive size of the beasts outside would surely tear my door down. I had no way to safety other than on foot as my ATV and car were both outside near the front of my trailer.

I slowly backed away from the door, keeping my eyes on it. Every time the beast bashed its body into the wood, my whole body jumped. I had never felt such fear in my life, tears starting to form in my horrified eyes.

I had never heard of wolves acting this way, only a bear once in a while if they smelled something inside the house. I knew there was nothing besides me inside this house that those wolves would be interested in eating. Not only was this strange for wolves, but they also followed me back here. What the fuck was going on with the wildlife?

The wolf smashed its body into the door again, this time causing the door to crack, a gasp leaving my mouth. I didn't know it was possible, but my heart pounded harder. At that moment I knew they were going to get in, and it wouldn't take much more to break the door.

I quickly scrambled to my bedroom which was down the hallway. I kept all the lights off, sure to not leave a sure sign of where I had gone. I quickly tossed my clothes basket out of my closet and climbed into its place, closing the closet door beside me.

All I could hear was my ragged breath and thumping heartbeat. The closet was completely dark with exception of a small crack under the door.

Suddenly I heard a loud crack of wood, followed by another, and then the door smashing into the wall. I heard snarls and growls coming from the living room and I held my breath. I clamped my hand over my mouth, careful not to make a sound. A few more tears slipped from my eyes, tears of pure terror.

I heard a strange cracking sound, like bones. Then the growling stopped and was replaced by hard, heavy footsteps. My brows pulled together, confused as to who had come into my house. Had they come to help? I slowly stood up, keeping the door closed.

"I think she's in here," I heard a masculine voice say. What the hell was a guy doing inside my house. I kept my mouth shut, hoping they'd leave quickly once they saw I was not in the immediate room.

The footsteps drew closer, the floor creaking and groaning as they made their way down the hallway. I finally knew they were in my room when I heard a specific creak that was right passed my door frame. I knew there were two people as the creak happened twice, and my guess would be that they were both men.

"The window is open. Maybe she got out?" the man said. I heard what sounded like a growl and I closed my eyes and held my breath. I didn't want them to know I was still inside the house.

"Let's go," a second voice said. The voice was beautifully deep, smooth but gruff.

Once the feet had finally left, I creaked the door open, peeking through the crack. I gave a quick look around before stepping out of the closet.

I looked over to the window and mentally patted myself on the back for forgetting to close it. I slowly walked out of the bedroom and down the hall and into the living room. The door was smashed and clearly broken. I'd have to replace that.

I closed it as best as I could, before sighing loudly in relief. I couldn't help but wonder to myself who the men were and why they were looking for me. Maybe they scared the wolves off and came to check on me?
