"This is incredible, Liam," I say as I am awestruck walking through Liam's castle.
"I aim to please," Liam says with a cocky smirk. I scrunch my eye brows at his words.
"Okay then," I say with a chuckle.
His castle was gorgeous outside, but the inside was even more incredible. The walls were stone like a cliche vampire castle would be. It would have been kind of creepy and ominous if it weren't for the beautiful lighting and chandeliers made of crystal. There were huge paintings hung on the walls of what I assume to be the history of the vampires.
There were vampires milling about, but most look to be servants or run of the mill vamps and every single one had their eyes on one thing; the human in the castle.
"Don't let it get to you. They probably just assume you're lunch," Liam says as he winks at me.
"Great," I mumble, following by Liam's side through the stone walls.
We turn the corner and walk down a hallway lit by bright lights. At the end of the hall, a grand staircase that looks like it belongs in the center of an extravagant ball room spirals upstairs. We take the gorgeous stairs up two floors and then take a new hallway.
Eventually we end up in what I assume is Liam's bedroom. It is as gorgeous as the rest of the house.
It had a huge sleigh bed that was easily twice as wide as a normal king size bed and a foot longer. The bed's sleigh frame was a gorgeous dark wood with intricate designs. The bedding was a dark red with black swirls, like a paisley but with vines and sharp edges.
There was a matching side table with a small lamp on it, a phone charger dangling off the edge of it. There was a chair in the corner and the only other seating was a window bench seat that looked over the vampire kingdom.
"Why's the bed so big?" I ask, not sure if I really wanted to know the answer to the question I just asked.
"I like to roll around in my sleep," Liam says, again with his signature cockiness on his face.
"Okay then," I say pursing my lips.
"You can sleep on the other side of the bed, Jas. I'll put a pillow between us," Liam says as if it is not weird at all for me to be sleeping in the bed of another man when I am supposed to be Cassander's mate. I can't even imagine the anger and rage Cassander would feel if he knew where I was right now.
"Okay. Great," I say, but I feel an awkwardness shift into the air as I speak my words.
"The bathroom is through that door. I have to go speak to someone but I'll be back in a few minutes. Please, for the sake of all things supernatural, please do not leave the room. I know you're an adventurous lass but I don't think you need to actually get eaten by a vampire tonight," Liam says with a chuckle.
"I promise I won't leave," I say with a roll of my eyes.
"Thank you," Liam says before he turns and leaves the room, closing the bedroom door behind him.
I sit on his bed and sigh. What a strange and fantastical world I have been tossed into.
I look over to the door that apparently leads to the bathroom. A shower or bath began to appeal to me. I stood from the bed and stretched my limbs before going to the door that had been tempting me over to it.
I open the door and a light automatically comes on, exposing a brightly colored, stone themed bathroom. The floor looks like a perfectly placed stone path that leads to the bathtub and shower. A mirror is on the wall and a rock protrudes out as a sink. Even the toilet matches the rocky, exotic theme. The bathtub is a literal stone bathtub, and it has small vines growing up the side of it. The shower head is in the ceiling and cascades down like rainfall.
