Another attack has taken place. This time the double attack on Justin and Nearly Headless Nick has turned what had hitherto been nervousness into real panic now. Curiously, it is Nearly Headless Nick's fate that seems to worry people the most. 'What could possibly do that to a ghost?' people have been asking each other; 'what terrible power can harm someone who is already dead?' There is now almost a stampede of students to book seats on the Hogwarts Express so that they can go home for Christmas and be safe.

The attack also put more fuel on the fire towards Harry. People are now skirting around him in the corridors as though he might sprout fangs or spit poison.

Fred and George, however, find this all very funny. They have gone out of their way to march ahead of Harry down the corridors, shouting, "make way for the Heir of Slytherin, seriously evil wizard coming through..."

At last, the term ends, and a silence deep as the snow on the grounds descend upon the castle. I find it rather peaceful, no students around carrying on about the whole Chamber of Secrets ordeal.

Fred and George have also chosen to stay at school rather than visit Bill in Egypt with Mr. and Mrs. Weasley. So, I am finally able to spend more time with the twins, without Wood breathing down their necks about Quidditch practices.

Christmas morning dawns, cold and white. Tracey and I walk into Draco's dormitory with Styx at our feet. Crabbe and Goyle still snoring away, and Draco peacefully huddled under his blanket.

Styx jumps up onto Draco's bed and purrs softly, rubbing his face against Draco's arm. "He looks so cute sleeping, I almost don't want to wake him up," I whisper to Tracey.

"Well, I want to open my presents so hurry up." She nudges me forward slightly.

I tip-toe closer towards Draco's bed, jumping on him once I am close enough. "Wake up!"

The sudden commotion causes him to bolt upright shouting, as I try wrestle him down, hitting his forehead straight against mine.

"Ouch!" we say in unison as we rub our heads laughing. Draco still pinned down beneath me.

"Sorry for the rude awakening," I say as I move to sit on the side of his bed.

"I'd say. Merry Christmas, by the way," Draco smirks.

"Yes, Merry Christmas. That's the reason why we woke you up. C'mon get dressed and meet us in the common room so we can open presents," I gleam as Tracey and I make our way out of the room.

Surprisingly Crabbe and Goyle are still snoring away, not bothered by the noise at all.

Minutes later Draco joins us downstairs with Styx at his heels. Most of the other Slytherin's having gone home for the holidays.

"Styx seems to have grown attached to Draco." Tracey nudges me as Draco walks in.

"I don't know what I have done for him to like me this much," Draco says sitting down on the couch opposite us.

"Maybe he can sense how fond Nyx is over –" I elbow her in the ribs causing her to breathe in sharply.

"Maybe it's all the treats you've been giving him to bring me your letters. Anyways, let's open our presents," I say as Tracey scowls at me, rubbing her ribs.

I received a tin of treacle toffee from Hagrid, which I share with Tracey and Draco as we open the rest of our presents. Hermione had gotten me a small telescope ornament that can light up my room showing the night sky. Tracey had given me a book on mythical creatures. The twins had given me a book on Animagus and all forms, which I know George had told Fred about that day at the Astronomy Tower. My parents sent a muggle novel. And Draco gave me a dragon plush teddy to which he said with reddened cheeks that he remembered me saying that I love dragons.
