Getting Harry and Ron alone has proven to be harder than expected; with all the teachers walking about and escorting us to our next classes. Also sneaking into the girls' bathroom where Moaning Myrtle is has proven to be impossible.

Even in potions Harry and Ron have been so focused within themselves about the Chamber of Secrets that they didn't even realize not once that I was trying to grab their attention.

Three days before our first June exam, Professor McGonagall makes an announcement at breakfast.

"I have good news," she says, and the Great Hall, instead of falling silent, erupted.

"Dumbledore's coming back!" several people yell joyfully.

"You've caught the Heir of Slytherin!" squeals a girl at the Ravenclaw table.

When the hubbub subsides, Professor McGonagall says, "Professor Sprout has informed me that the Mandrakes are ready for cutting at last. Tonight, we will be able to revive those people who have been petrified. I need hardly remind you all that one of them may well be able to tell us who, or what, attacked them. I am hopeful that this dreadful year will end with our catching the culprit."

There is an explosion of cheering, not much from the Slytherin table of course.

The good news from the morning did not last long of course. The bell to signal break never came. Instead, echoing through the corridors is Professor McGonagall's voice, magically magnified.

"All students to return to their House dormitories at once. All teachers return to the staffroom. Immediately, please."

Tracey turns to me as we all get up to head to our common room. "Surely not another attack?"

Back in the common room, evening on the approach, Snape explains to us that the attacks have gotten worse, and we will all be sent home tomorrow.

I pace up and down in one of the corners of the common room, deep in thought. As the other students mill about.

"Nyx, everything alright?" Tracey asks; however, I do not answer.

"Granger. Granger." Draco taps me on the shoulder gaining my attention. "What's troubling you?"

"I've got to go do something. I can't just stand by and do nothing. What if I'm the only one that knows about the monster and where the chamber possibly lies?"

"Did I miss something?" Tracey asks quizzically.

Ignoring her Draco speaks to me, "what do you need me to do?"

"I might as well not be here." Tracey throws up her arms.

"Not now Tracey," I answer as I stop mid pace. "Malfoy, I need to get to that bathroom. But surely there will be teachers roaming about, especially with this new attack."

"Let me come with you. I'll distract any if there are."

"Are you sure about this, Malfoy?" I ask.

"Most certainly. I want to help you any way that I can." He gives a firm nod.

"Would either of you mind telling me what's going on? Please?" Tracey tries to get our attention, but to no avail. Draco and I sprint towards the common room exit.

Rounding the corner to the stairs that leads to the second-floor girls' bathroom, we spot Snape in the distance. We jolt back behind the wall before he spots us.

"Let me go distract him. Good luck." Draco gives me one final hug before heading Snape's way.

"Professor Snape!" Draco yells out.
