(Y/N)

The sun had begun to set above the surface, and the number of people staying outside lessened drastically. Soon enough, the kind of people who still moved about were guards and those of shady nature. You quietly opened the front door, peeking outside to make sure you weren't seen sneaking out. Seeing no one and hearing nothing, you get outside and close the door before dashing off into a quick, swimming motion.

Seriye didn't work this late, and perhaps that was for the best as you didn't want an eyewitness to when you left the city. Although, it meant it would take a lot longer to arrive at your destination.

You were forced to check every corner as you went, not wanting to be surprised by a patrolling guard. Luckily for you, the guards out at night weren't of a big amount. That was because of predatory beings rarely making it past the barrier that was Gigantea.

It was rather hard to tell how much time had gone by when you finally reached the outskirts of the city. But seeing as it was still dark, you continued.

I couldn't tell how late it was anymore as it felt like an eternity since everyone went to sleep. Asriel had turned to his side, putting an arm around me. I've been told I was cuddly as a child, so he got a habit of hugging me back, even in later years.

I turned to my back, staring blankly at the ceiling. This wasn't new to me as I experienced nightmares close to every night. For the most part, I didn't get much sleep. But it was always easier when Asriel was home. What was the difference this time? Was it the location or because all four of us were in the same room?

*WHAM*

I almost flew up into a sitting position, spinning my head around to see what happened. Asriel groaned a bit but simply turned his back towards me. I slowly lifted the blanket, crawling out of bed before sneaking towards the door. Grabbing its handle, I look back to make sure no one had woken up before I pulled it down. The door creaked open and I slipped out into the night's fresh air.

It was too dark for me to see clearly, but a shadow was moving in the front of the boat. It had sort of a humanoid form. But something was off. The head of the shadow was a lot bigger than it should be.

I slowly snuck closer, doing my best for them not to notice me as I searched my pockets. In the right one, I found my cellphone. I took it out and just as I was about to turn on the flashlight, I slipped on something. The back of my head hit the wooden floor, forcing me to make a slight sound of pain. I had dropped my phone and as I was trying to find it, a sense of dizziness came to me. One of my hands went to my forehead as the other searched blindly for the electronic.

Instead of feeling my phone, I felt something bigger. It was rather wet, almost slimy even, and sort of felt like a foot. I moved my hand from my forehead, slowly looking up. The shadow was now looming over me, not doing anything. I laid there, frozen.

What felt like a lifetime went by before the creature began to shrink in height, coming a bit closer to my level as a hand stretched out towards me. Without thinking I moved my hands in front of my face as a way of defense. I could feel it using two, of what I could only presume to be, hands as it bent up my fingers on one hand. I shut my eyes, waiting for what could come next. Something was placed in my palm before they let me close my hand again. It felt like...

I opened my eyes and slowly brought the hand closer, opening it close to my face. There laid my phone, completely fine. The only thing that bothered me was the slimy feeling it had now. I forced myself up into a sitting position, turning on the flashlight. This time successfully. As I turned it towards the shadow, I think it put a hand in front of it, blocking the light.

"Hnn... that's too bright..!" a voice said in a whining manner. I let myself blink a few times, for I recognized the voice. Well, sort of. I had only heard it once but, under the circumstances, it was hard to forget.

"Y/N, what are you doing here?" I asked.

"Turn off that liiight, pleasee" she whined, not letting it land on the rest of her. I hesitated before turning it off.

"Sorry.." I mumbled as I put it into my pocket. I'd imagine she was blinking a few times, but there was no way to say for sure. "..so..-"

"I'm sorry for coming here so late. I didn't know you needed sleep" she said. I blinked a few times.

"You mean you don't sleep?" I asked.

"No, I sleep too. In fact, I love sleeping!" she chirped.

"Then... why wouldn't we need sleep..?" I asked.

"Hm... because you live on land?" she suggested. I sighed.

"Landliving things sleep," I said. Then I remembered something. "Say...Y/N... what the hell are you?" I asked.

"A human, what else?" she answered.

"... what..?" I asked as my face went blank.

"What do you mean "What"?" she asked.

"But... I'm a human..." I said, scratching the back of my head.

"Well, then you're a land-living human!"

"But... where do you live?" I asked.

"In a city underwater!" she replied.

".... is it called Atlantis by some chance..?"

"What? No?"

"....ah..."

We were quiet for a rather long time before I started to look around. Something was glowing on the floor a few meters away from me. I got on all four and crawled over to it, not wanting to slip again.

It was glowing with a bluish hue. I reached out to poke it, immediately returning my hand with a shiver as the thing was awfully slimy. I heard Y/N come up behind me before it was picked up. In its glow, I could see her hands. Her fingers were long and webbed together with rather short nails. Her skin didn't seem as pale as mine, but not quite tanned either. As she brought it up, I could see her face, imprisoned by a barrier of water from her neck to the top of her head. I pointed at it.

"What... is that..?" I asked. She blinked.

"What is what?"

"The... nevermind..." I shook my head, rubbing off my hand on my pants. "What was it that I touched..?" I asked.

"Just a jellyfish, nothing dangerous!" she chirped, holding it out towards me. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I leaned back.

"Please keep that away from me.." I said.

"Why? It's not dangerous!" she said.

"It's slimy and I don't like it...."

"You think it's slimy..?"

"You're slimy too..." I said with a blank face.

"W-well you're mean" she pouted before cracking up, chuckling. "I like you"
