(Y/N)
The night had been rough as you struggled to fall asleep. The idea of bringing them to your city was as thrilling as it was scary.
You were willingly bringing them into your city against the law, against your safety. Were you idiotic? Perhaps you were leading enemies through the defense. They could turn their backs on you and destroy your home.
Yet... their eyes... In them, you hadn't seen any evil intent at all. Except for...-
A sound was heard. You judged it as coming from outside. It was cut short suddenly before a horrific sound was heard. Then came a scream. You hurried out of bed to sneak a peek from your window.
Red. The outside of your window had been turned red. You stared at it for a moment, as you knew only one thing this red. Then, something swam past. A large, white and grey creature with a big snout and round black eyes. A shark.
*Crunch*
W-what is going on?
*Crunch* *Crunch*
Such sharks can't get in through the barrier. Something is very wrong.
"You monsters! How could y-" the scream was cut short once again as teeth met meat and bone.
"This is what happens when you don't pay your sum" another voice was heard, this one darker and quieter. You covered your mouth. It was one of the guards that would stand outside of your school. What kind of mistake had they made? What hadn't they paid for? A debt? Or could it be...
I'm sorry, but we'll have to go without food for a while, or we won't be able to pay the tax.
What happens if we don't?
Don't worry about that, dear. We'll make it.
More than once had you asked. Every time had she dodged the question. Then... the price for not paying enough would have to be... the ultimate price...

Your life.

Something is...off...
For such a long time, I've never been able to fall asleep peacefully, with the exception of naps. But this time, it happened.
I put a hand on my chest.
It's calm...
Slowly I pushed myself up, looking around the room. My mom and dad had already gone out and Asriel was still sleeping beside me.
I slowly moved the blanket off the rest of my body before getting out of bed. A groan was heard from beside me.
"Morning, Asriel," I said. He responded with another groan as he covered his eyes with his arm.
"Jeez... I barely got any sleep last night..." he mumbled as he turned to his side. I felt a bit worried.
"Did you have a bad dream..?" I asked. He slowly shook his head.
"No... you talked in your sleep... a lot too..." he mumbled again. I sighed.
"Anything special I talked about?" I asked.
"Nah... couldn't really hear much" he replied before holding a hand up, making a motion to leave him alone. So I headed outside. Two faces turned to me, both of them smiling.
"Good morning, Kris" mom said as she waved. I looked around a bit.
"What time is it?" I asked.
"Oh, it's about 10 am. You and Asriel are such hard sleepers, dear" she said with a continued smile.
"Alright.."
"You seem...disappointed..." she said. I blinked before shaking my head.
"Not at all. Sorry if I sounded like it" I said as I went to sit down on a chair. But... I was actually... I don't know why either...
"Aren't you excited, son?" dad asked as he sat down beside me.
"Uh...about what?" I asked. He chuckled and placed his paw on my head.
"Silly you, Kris" he said before continuing. "Y/N was going to show us her home, remember?"
"Oh, right. I forgot" I replied as I placed a hand on his paw.
"Well, aren't you excited?" he asked again. I nodded.
"Sure. Can't believe I forgot" I looked over at mom. "Did you come up with a way to make us look less... like we live on land..?" I asked her.
"Well... perhaps..." she said as she rubbed her legs a bit. "But since you're awake, you can help me further"
"Okay..." I said as I picked up a fork, about to put it into a pie that stood on the table. But I was quickly yanked out of the chair, dropping it.
"Let's go then!" mom said as she dragged me along.
"But...the pie..." I tried. It was all in vain. I was brought along to the other side of the boat, where she began to show off some small pieces of fabric.
"Well, how do you think they look?" she asked.
"Ah well... I don't think you need to make every scale..." I replied.
"Oh, dear. These aren't scales. I thought they would make fine fins!" she said before grabbing my face, sticking pieces onto it.
"M-mom..! I-it tickles!" I chuckled.
"I know, I know. Now, remove your shirt and let's get started there as well" She continued. I nodded and slowly began to pull up my shirt.
*Thud*
"Hey, everyone! How's it-"
