-Present Time-
I wake up in pain. Studying my surroundings I see that I am in what seems to be a hospital. My thigh is wrapped in bandage wrap, my bruises coated with a salve, and my dagger on the bedside table next to me. I grab it and attempt to get up, but not before falling to the floor. The door opens and a figure comes rushing in.
"Gosh Sara you could've at least yelled for help. You're hurting yourself more with your carelessness." It's Spence.
I try to speak only to find my throat dry. When he finally places me back in bed I tap his shoulder to catch his attention then tap my throat. He nods in confirmation and leaves the room only to return with a glass of water. Helping me sit up and drink from the cup I find myself waking up a bit more. My senses kicking in again but this time it's more familiar, the same sensation I feel around Spence. They aren't alerting me of exiles but of other Grigori.
"There are Grigori in the building?" I ask.
He nods then puts the glass down to grab my hands and trace circles on the back of my hands. The touch is familiar and comforting, instantly putting me at ease.
"You had me worried Sara I thought you wouldn't make it this time. What if you couldn't reach me in time and died there on your own. You would've left me and Sam. I don't want you to-"
There are tears threatening to spill from his eyes at any moment and his hold on me tightened. I squeeze his hands bringing him back to reality.
"Hush. Relax Spence. I'm here and no exile will be the cause of my death, you can quote me on that. Besides you and Sam have each other if I do leave, I know you hate the idea of me not being by your side anymore, but I guess now is a good time as ever. In the off chance I do have to leave the world earlier than expected, know that I trust you to take care of Sam."
He tackles me in a strong hug before releasing his strong hold a bit noticing my grimace of pain.
"Don't say such things. I care for you and hearing that makes me upset. Let's just leave it at that for now. I'm really glad you're okay and before you ask Sam is doing good too. A bit upset you didn't buy her dinner but I got you covered."
Dinner? Wait it's past dinner time?
"Spence, how long have I been out?"
He leans back and wipes the threatening tears.
"A little more than a day. A surprise to all the Grigori here, never seen someone recover from a Grigori dagger so quick. Then again you have always been above average. Should've seen their faces when they realized that I wasn't your partner and that you didn't have a partner to help you in the healing process."
I laugh, in relief that Sam has been looked after and Spence is back to his normal self again.
"Of course there'd be no need for that if you would've been more careful. What happened babe? Distracted?"
I chuckle, "Please, if that were the reason then I would be in critical condition. You know exiles have no self control when coming across a defenseless Grigori." he nods in agreement and motions me to continue.
"There were three of them at the fan meet, easily took two out. The third one however, he was definitely much more difficult."
