-Present Time-
"Sara! Stop! You're hurting me!!!"
After arriving at the hotel I let Sam head to our room first while I dragged Spence out of the car. Currently I was beating him at a spar at a nearby park. He knows how to defend himself but there was multiple reasons he was getting the beating of his life.
He annoyed me too much today, I warned him and he didn't listen so it's only right
I know he can handle this otherwise I wouldn't go so hard on him
I take sparring very seriously, doesn't matter if it's practice or not
I stopped fighting Spence to catch my breath. He was leaning on a tree clutching his stomach and sides.
"It's no wonder you haven't got a boyfriend yet. A small joke and you're already beating me to death. Babe, you know I don't have my partner yet right? I can't heal myself like you."
"I warned you. Did I not? Besides, you used your power unnecessarily."
"C'mon, I used it safely. We may have been glamoured but no one got hurt. I made sure of that."
"There are times to use glamour and others where it's unnecessary."
"Give me a break though. You're about to break my ribs."
I chuckle at his posture and reach my hand out towards him. He immediately shakes his head making me laugh.
"A sign of truce."
"Lies! You're just gonna take advantage of my trust! I've known you for five years Sara! I know you'll bring me forward and knee me in the gut. So no thanks!"
"I swear on all I own its true. Besides, I've had enough fun beating you."
I reach my hand out towards him again and this time he receives the gesture. Spence also doesn't have a partner so every injury he has he'll have to depend on his abilities to cure himself. All Grigori have rapid healing abilities but then there are those who outliers. Me, for example.
"On a more serious note, I think we might have an issue that needs solving."
I tell Spence who is trying to stand up straight. He motions for me to continue and I say
"I'm pretty sure there are seven guys in the area who haven't embraced. And they're a close friend group."
The shock on Spence's face confirms the abnormality of it. It just doesn't seem likely that seven men would unknowingly stay together if they knew of their truth.
"I... do you think the local Grigori know?"
"Pretty sure they do. At least I hope so. That much power that's unclaimed can attract exiles. Pretty sure they're past the awakening stage so they must have some sort of protectors from exiles. Not our case but I would like to confirm with the locals, you know just in case."
"Good idea, the vulnerable should be protected. Was that what you saw back in the restaurant? You used your sight?"
I nod in response. Spence is one of the few Grigori who know of my extra abilities. Along with my power of sight, I have shields that not only protect me but can provide glamour. Basically I can disguise anything inside the shield I make. However, my sight ability is information I only trust with my closest friends. If word got to Josephine, I don't think I'll ever be able to live freely. I'll probably be forced to carry out her direct orders and missions. Speaking of Josephine,
"You know what Spence, I just realized you owe me."
"I do not."
"Yes you do. We bet on Josephine knowing your whereabouts remember? You owe me twenty bucks."
"You also said within an hour, and I might have you know that she contacted me a little well after set time."
"Whatever, I only mentioned it because I was wondering if she texted anymore mission details."
"Let's see."
He pulls out his phone and reads out his convo with her.
Josephine: You are to meet the Grigori team tonight at 11pm near the Han River, at the Wonhyo Bridge. On the Yongsan-gu side of it.
Spence: What's the target?
Josephine: They claim that light and dark exiles are working together. But a rogue exile has intel on what they are looking for. You are to be there and act as a backup in case of a sudden ambush.
"That doesn't make any sense. Even though they're both exiles their egos are too big to work together like that. Whatever they agreed on better have great rewards for both sides." I tell Spence. He stares at his screen with a thoughtful look on his face.
"You think it could connect to what happened at the meet and greet yesterday?" Spence asked me.
"Could be. Whatever it is, it can't be good."
"Looking forward to tonight though. Hopefully we get to take part in some action."
"Of course, all you care about is returning some exiles."
"Is that not why we exist though?"
"Point taken. Let's head up to our room before we go. I want to rest a bit."
