The Plan of the Angels

Chapter 13

After around 1 am we were given the all-clear so we all started heading to HQ. I realized with a start that I might not even be disclosed with such information so this trip might be a waste. But it doesn't hurt to try. So ten minutes and three awful dad jokes later courtesy of Spence, I was found outside the office of the high ranking Grigori in South Korea. I breathe deeply and try to calm my nerves. Talking to these people will never not be a nerve-wracking day. I see Spence from my peripheral side glancing me.

"Easy breaths babe. You got this. Ok?"

I nod and give him an appreciative smile reaching out to hold his hand and remind myself of the support. I take one more deep breath before knocking on the door and waited for an approval to enter

"Come in,"

I march through the door with Spence a couple steps beside me, and as I open the door I noticed several things. The center of the room has a round table where the four Grigori who met with the exile earlier are currently sitting at. From what Minjun told us the Grigoris whose makers are from the Seraph rank are Yeona and Daehyun. Yeona's partner, Joowon is from a Virtue, and Daehyun's partner, Isabelle is from a Dominion. Their table is organized with piles of papers that I can only assume to be "angel business" and the walls have maps and paintings decorating it. The atmosphere already seems a bit tense and I begin talking before I lose any more courage.

"I wanted to ask something a bit intrusive and I was told that your services would be required. Is that all right?"

I talk to them in Korean as it only seems fitting since this is their HQ.

"What sort of information are you seeking?" Yeona replies

"About your Grigori, more specifically the ones who chose not to embrace."

"That is highly sensitive information to be trusted with other high ranking Grigori. Are you aware of your rank?" Daehyun asks

"I am not aware. I apologize."

"Is your partner at least from a high rank?" he asks Spence

"My maker is from a Virtue, but I'm not her partner."

Daehyun sighs heavily and looks a bit annoyed, his partner Isabelle squeezes his shoulder reassuringly and faces us with a kind look on her face, Joowon breaks the silence and begins talking apologetically,

"Listen, we had a rough encounter recently and have other things to sort out. Had your source told you earlier that such information is only given to Seraph ranks you wouldn't have wasted your time right now, but we'll give you a pass since you helped us out earlier. If that's all then we would like to return to the business at hand."

"I swear it's not a big deal, just a simple question." I try one more time

They all look at each other for a brief moment then back at me. Yeona gives me the go-ahead nod and I ask

"Are your unclaimed Grigori protected?"

They looked at me surprised and accusingly. In some ways, I might have insulted them since South Korea has one of the highest Girgori population. Meaning almost no Grigori that has awakened chose not to embrace. However, there is that small percentage of unclaimed Grigori and I know that BTS is a part of that percentage.

"Of the very little unclaimed we have, they are very protected by other fully trained Grigori. We like to keep tabs in case they change their mind. However, if you want us to disclose names and locations then that is something we will not share." Daehyun replies

"No! No! Not at all! I just wanted to make sure that they are well protected because I think I ran into some a couple of days ago at a venue. Some exiles showed up and claimed to be certain of the location. I returned them of course but they seemed to have a bigger goal in mind than just terrorizing humans."

They gave each other looks again and I can tell that they're having a whole conversation with their expressions. I turn to look at Spence and he gives me a reassuring smile and nods me back to face them again.

"Well, I'm sure you think you know what you might have heard, but it might have been your aura that attracted them and were simply telling you lies that day," Joowon says

"Not possible, I can guard my aura pretty well on a day to day basis."

"Well little girl I hate to break it to you but perhaps you're not as great as you thought." Daehyun interrupts. Spence is outraged I can feel it as he stands next to me and talks back to Daehyun,

"Now hold on a minute Mr.Classified Information, Sara is one of the most powerful Grigori out here. Wouldn't be surprised if her maker turns out to be an Imperium-"

"Ha! The rumored angel rank. Stop believing everything you're told. And even if it was true why would an ultimate angel give their essence to a human and not announce it? Heck, even her own maker is ashamed of choosing an ignorant brat-"

Spence moves so fast and swiftly that the next thing I knew, he was holding Daehyun up against a wall, "say that one more time I dare you." Spence grits out

Isabelle lets an audible gasp out and Joowon starts making his way towards them. I see Yeona stop him and he begins to ramble

"He's in trouble! The boy's lost his mind, this is treason!"

Yeona shakes her head,

"He was provoked, we can't stop him." 

She turns to look at me, and I know what she meant, they can't stop Spence, but I can. I know Spence is loyal but if I don't stop him now he'll be committing a crime. Daehyun only makes matters worse by encouraging Spence, he laughs mockingly and Spence only holds him tighter.

"Spence! Quit it! That's enough!" I yell at him. He lets go immediately and walks back to my side not sparing Daehyun a glance. He grabs my arm and marches out the door. I turn back to apologize for our behavior when I see Yeona and Joowon giving me a knowing look and Daehyun staring at me with vengeance in his eyes, and Isabelle's by his side healing him. As me and Spence head to the hotel, two things cross my mind. I made another high ranking Grigori enemy, and I don't think we'll be invited back anytime soon.
