"What?" Jane asked stunned that this young man, that appeared not a day over twenty-six, was her father.

"He is my father," Khaibi stated simply as her father stood and smiled at everyone who had collected around them. He was not smiling as a greeting, he was smiling because he knew what everyone was thinking; they just thought that he was smiling a greeting so Khaibi didn't enlighten them - they would have thought her crazy and a liar.

"We really need to get going, Dad," Khaibi said as she tugged at her father's sleeve, impatient to be away from all the judging eyes that followed their every move.

They made their way out of the school gates, Khaibi looked back just in time to see the hate loaded looks that Jane and Lacy shot at her. Well perfect, this was not going to end well for either Khaibi or them.

When they got through the door Khaibi immediately took off her sunglasses and whipped round to face her father, ready to yell at him.

"Why? Why did you do that to me?" She felt embarrassed that all of her classmates had reacted like they had.

"Well I thought that it would be nice for me to pick you up on your first day in case you had forgotten the way home," Markus explained.

"Do you know how hard it is for me to make friends? Everyone thinks I am crazy, and do you really think I would forget where we live?" Khaibi continued to yell, her volume rising so much that Markus had to take a step back.

"Hey darling, how was your first day at school?" Ava asked as she breezed into the room.

"Hey Mum, how was your day at your new job?" Khaibi asked as she tried to change the subject away from herself.

"Nice try, Khaibi. I asked you first," Ava teased as she propelled her daughter towards the living room, also she didn't want to talk about the long boring day she'd had answering calls at a desk.

"Well I have had two boys declare that they love me in the space of my first school day," Khaibi said as she flopped into the nearest chair to tell her mother the gruelling tale of her day. Myst laughed as she entered the room with a cup of tea for their mother.

"Sister!" Khaibi greeted as she looked up from the chair.

"It would only happen to you, but it's not like you have feelings for either of them anyway," Myst said as she left the room as quickly as she'd entered.

"Do you have feelings for either of them?" Ava asked, suddenly very serious.

"I... I don't know," Khaibi said as she thought about her situation, knowing that her father knew what she was thinking. She was grateful that he kept quiet as if waiting to hear the rest of the story.

"Darling, you know how dangerous it is to have feelings for a human," Ava said

"I know Mum. I know," Khaibi said as she was trying to puzzle her situation out.

"What are their names?" Markus asked as he appeared to be in a deep thought.

"Um...Tony Jackson and Dean Ghoul. Tony is about my height with blond hair that is past the bottom of his ear and he has brown eyes. Dean is taller than me with short-ish spiky black hair and he has gunmetal blue eyes that seem to pierce your very soul," Khaibi described as she pictured each one in turn.

"You like them," Markus stated, knowing fully well that she did because her thoughts told him so.

"No! That is completely ridiculous. I am not discussing it any more today, if ever. Excuse me I've got homework to do," Khaibi said coldly and walked out of the room and upstairs to her bedroom to do her homework, and mainly because she didn't want another lecture like the one she had in Transylvania about falling for humans.

"Khaibi? Can I come in?" Myst asked as she knocked on Khaibi's door.

"Sure," Came the short reply.

"I just wanted to talk to you about your day," Myst said, hoping that she could convince her sister that that was her reason for coming to her room.

"Yeah right. I know why you're here. I do not need another lecture on how bad it is to fall for a human. I've already said I don't like them so drop it and leave me alone," Khaibi said as she guessed her sister's real reason for coming to her room.

"I just thought that a friendly opinion might help," Myst explained as she made her way to a chair to sit down. Khaibi snorted, what did Myst know about falling for humans?

"No, I don't need your help, go away and leave me alone!" Khaibi thundered as she pushed her sister towards the door.

"Khaibi, please I-" Myst began to say but didn't finish because the door was abruptly shut in her face. Myst then yelled through the keyhole, "You are one rude vampire."

"Go away Myst, before I do something I'll regret," Khaibi warned her sister in a voice that was thick with pain.

"Like what?" Myst pressed as she stood there with her hands on her hips, clearly not hearing the threat in her sister's voice.

"Go away!" Khaibi screamed as lightning seemed to radiate from inside her room.

"Myst!" Markus and Ava yelled as they charged up the stairs when they heard a thunder clap come from Khaibi's room.

"I'm fine," Myst panted as her parents approached the top of the staircase, clutching her arm which had burnt black.

"What happened?" Ava asked as she looked between Myst and Khaibi's bedroom door.

"I went up to see if she wanted to talk about the rest of her day, then she got mad and the next thing I know, the door has been shut in my face and then there was lightning and thunder then nothing," Myst explained, lying about most of it. She knew that she had pushed Khaibi but didn't want to admit it.

"You liar. You wanted to lecture me about falling for a human then when I wanted you to leave you persisted about staying, then I got mad, so I shut the door to prevent myself from doing something bad but you pushed and pushed. I even warned you that I'd do something I'd regret but you still pushed me and then I blacked out. I remember nothing else," Khaibi explained hurriedly as she emerged from her room.

"Well, we'll need to keep an eye on you to make sure it doesn't happen again." Ava said calmly as she headed back downstairs to get their 'meal' ready.

"Ava, this is serious, she is not meant to have powers yet. Her 16th birthday has not yet passed!" Markus whispered grimly so that Myst and Khaibi could not hear.

"What does it mean if she's got them now?" Ava whispered back, terrified of the answer.

"It means she is more powerful than we anticipated," Markus said as he walked back into the kitchen, leaving Ava standing there in terror.

"Myst... I'm sorry," Khaibi said as she tried to catch hold of her sister to stop her walking away.

"No, Khaibi. Sorry is when you accidentally drop someone's pudding. You could have killed me!" Myst screeched as she shrugged her sister off and carried on walking.

"Please Myst; I didn't know what I was doing. I blacked out, I didn't know," Khaibi sobbed as she tried to convince her sister that she was sorry.

"Ok, ok. Apology accepted," Myst said as she tried to comfort her sister then said threateningly, "Just don't let it happen again."

Then Khaibi joined her family for their 'meal' and there were no more conversations about whether she liked the human boys until she tried to go to sleep and her sister snuck into her room.

"So, I wanted to ask you something," Myst said as she woke her sister from her deep sleep.

"What is it?" Khaibi mumbled sleepily.

"If you did like both of them who would you choose if you had to pick one?" Myst asked.

"Dean," Khaibi replied instantly and went back to sleep.

"Hmmm. That's interesting," Myst thought to herself.
