"Smile more. You're prettier when happy."I was crying one day in school and I was devastated until I saw that note pasted on my locker. And it really cheered me up. However, I didn't learn who the note was from.
The next day, I got another note.
"Your presentation today was awesome!"And I got another one the next day,
"You're really smart. I can't believe you got the highest score from today's quiz."This happened everyday for the rest of the school year. I always looked forward to them even if I wasn't feeling down. I didn't know who the secret admirer was, but I fell in love with their words. All I knew about mysterious person was that they go to my school and we have a very similar class schedule. So, it could be any of my seat mates.
Some notes were simple compliments, some were much deeper. Sometimes it was pretty short and sweet, sometimes they were long and beautiful."Y/n, I felt bad for watching that girl hurt you like that. I'm sorry that I'm such a coward but just know that I think you should be treated so much better."
"If I never get the guts to tell you who I am, I just hope you end up with someone who'll make you the happiest girl you deserve to be."
"You looked really adorable yesterday during our History field trip. I wish I can be enthusiastic and passionate about something the way you were in the museum."
"I feel stupid. I tried to talk to you today but I just couldn't. I was trying to congratulate you on your speech. You really are amazing."
I feel I'm the stupider one. Because I'm falling in love with someone and I don't know who he is.
"Meet me at the school's rooftop." was today's note. My heart raced as I climbed up the stairs. I was always looking forward to this day but I didn't think it would be so soon. As I reached the top, I walked around to look for him. I didn't see anyone yet, thinking I must be too early. Then again, he didn't specify what time. I hear the door click open and I swiftly turned to the direction of the sound and I see...
"Y/n? What are you doing up here?" Kai closed the door behind him and walked over to me.
I sighed, "Oh, I thought..." I crossed my arms, "I'm just waiting for someone."
"Who?"
"The person who keeps sending me notes. He asked to meet me here."
"Really?"
"Yeah..." I wandered around, waiting.
"You don't look that excited?" He raised an eyebrow and I shrugged.
"Well, it's just that he's... not here yet. I don't think he's coming actually."
He snickered, "Wouldn't it be funny if it was me?"
"Hey." I gave him a deadpan look, "Why do you keep saying that?"
"Sorry, I was just trying to make you laugh."
"Well, those jokes won't work." I went for the door but Kai grabbed my wrist.
"Hey, Y/n, wait..."
I looked at him, "Don't you think maybe I don't care if it was you?"
"I thought you care who the note guy is-"
"Of course I do, idiot! That's why I don't mind if it's you- Ugh." I groaned and pulled away from his grip.
As I stepped forward to the door, Kai blocked the exit, "Y/n, it was me!"
"Huh?"
"It was me, okay!"
"Are you really pranking me right now?" I glared at him, my teeth was grinding.
"No! I- I-" I never seen Kai stutter around me before, "I mean it, I l-like you."
My face softened, "You... You wrote them all?"
Kai nodded and gulped, "Uh... I know, it's w-weird... I feel comfortable and confident around you b-but I can't- I wasn't honest about my feelings-" He rubbed the back of his neck as he blushed, "I can't seem to get the w-words out so I wrote them..."
"Why didn't you say it was you in the beginning?"
He chuckled to himself, "I forgot to sign my name on the first note, thinking you'd know it was me. But when you texted me about some anonymous admirer started giving you notes I thought this was my ch-chance to tell you how I felt without uh... without you knowing it was me."
"So, those times where you asked how I felt if it was you? You weren't making fun of me?"
He slowly nodded, "How do you feel?"
"Oh my gosh, Kai," I threw my head back and laughed. "I thought it would never be you! I'm so glad it's you!"
Kai's face lit up, "Really?!"
"Yes!" Grinning widely, I locked my arms around him, embracing him tightly. He hugged me back.
As I pulled away enough to look at him, I couldn't stop smiling. I felt like I looked dumb for it so I started to laugh.
A soft smile formed in his lips, "There it is."
"What?" I was still giggling.
"You're smiling. It's what makes you prettier than you already are."
My cheeks felt red as I giggled, but even with such a confident statement, I could still feel him shaking. He leaned in for a soft kiss. I could feel our heartbeats racing wildly. The longer the kiss was, the more his shaking lessened until it completely disappeared.
