I've only seen color in the real world. But when I sleep, my dreams are only in black and white. I thought it was normal that I slept like that for a while. Not until when I was 14, when I told my mom about it and she was surprised. It was said that you dream in color from now on when you meet your soulmate. The odd thing was that a lot of people meet their soulmates before 13-years old. So I was pitied sometimes for not seeing any colors."I'm home!" I heard my brother announcing his arrival and I headed to the door to greet him.
"Taehyun, I thought you're going to your friend's house?"
"Change of plans." He took off his shoes and placed them neatly on the sides, "He's going to hang out here. Don't be weird."
"I won't." I lightly pushed him, "You shouldn't be weird."
"Shut up." He scoffed and he went upstairs to his room.
I went back to the living room and returned to my video game. I grabbed my controller and my attention focused on the screen, I strategically pressed buttons as I fought the enemies. Some time must've passed because I suddenly heard the door bell ring.
"Y/n! Please answer it! I'm in the middle of something!" Taehyun screamed from upstairs.
"Fine!" I groaned and paused the game. I stood up and opened the door to see a tall, blonde haired boy.
"Hi, I'm Beomgyu." He shyly waved, smiling slightly "Does Kang Taehyun live here?"
"Yeah..." I shyly hid my hands inside my hoodie's pockets, "Come in."
"So, is Taehyun your brother?" Beomgyu sat at the living room's couch
I grabbed my controller, "Yup." And pressed play. I tried to focus but my heart kept beating out of my chest and my hands were oddly sweaty that I kept wiping my palms on the side of my jeans. It made it hard for me to prove to Beomgyu that I was a good gamer even.
"You're really good at this game."
"It's not the best right now." I quickly remarked, instead of thanking him. I didn't mean to sound so intense but I was really frustrated. I didn't know why a guy was making me nervous, it usually doesn't happen.
Taehyun finally made it downstairs, "Beomgyu, you made it!" He chuckled a little at what he saw, "I see you made friends with Y/n."
"Ah, yeah..." He chuckled, "Let's go upstairs?"
"Yup. Hey, Y/n? Behave down here." He teased me and I told him to shut up.
As they got upstairs, Taehyun jokingly apologized to Beomgyu, "Sorry you had to deal with that gaming goblin."
I rolled my eyes but I felt sudden butterflies in my stomach when I heard Beomgyu say, "Nah, I like her. She seems cool."
That night, I went to bed. There was something different about my dream but I couldn't figure it out. I dreamt that a monster chased me and tried to hurt me. I was terrified, I felt tears in my eyes even. I was even bleeding, my blood was so red. I woke up and gasped as I felt that my tears were actually real. I checked my "wounds" and there was no blood. I ran out of my room and headed to the kitchen. I turned the lights on and took a glass of water. I heard footsteps and Taehyun entered.
"Y/n? What's wrong?"
"I had a nightmare... Some kind of monster was hurting me..." I explained, sipping a glass of water.
"Why-" He gestured to me, "Then why are you smiling?"
"In my dream, I was bleeding." I placed a cup down and grinned widely, "My blood was red."
Taehyun furrowed his brows, "What? Of course it's red, why are-"
I grabbed him by the arms and stated, "I dreamt in color."
Taehyun's jaw dropped, "Oh." Then he added, "Do you know who it is?"
"I didn't really meet anyone new today except-"
Taehyun's phone rang. He excused himself and answered it, "Beomgyu, it's late! What are you-" He suddenly went quiet. "You- What?"
"What's wrong?" I asked, while I took another gulp of water.
"He just had his first dream with color."
I almost choked on my drink.
