Chapter 12

The Dance

Claire's POV

When I entered the ballroom there was classical music playing. Everyone was dressed up and dancing. I scanned the room for Cole or Kiera and made sure to avoid them. I eventually spotted both of my parents and walked down the steps making my way towards them. Forgetting about Cole and Kiera I put a small smile on my face. I walked up to my parents when I reached the bottom step and they both gave me a small smile with mixed emotions. Sympathy showed more than anything else.

"I made it" I said not exactly happy that I'm here.

"I see that, are you alright?" Natasha asked. She put the champagne glass to her lips and tipped it back to take a sip.

"I'm okay, I feel like I need a dance, but I'm okay" before Clint could ask why i needed a dance Mr. and Mrs. Levine had shown up in front of us.

"Mr and Mrs. Youth, it's nice to meet you I am Mr. Levine" He held out a hand and both Clint and Natasha shook it. When his gaze shifted to me he held out his hand.

"and miss Nina it's a pleasure to see you again" I shook his hand. "you look very much like your parents" he said in a matter of fact tone. I smiled but secretly prayed he would stop at that. My parents don't need to realize that I'm actually their daughter.

"Darling Cole and Kiera went to get some refreshments, that's where you might find them" said Mrs. Levine i nodded still holding my smile. I looked back at my parents and could tell they were waiting for my reaction.

"Then I guess I should go and find them" I said. Before I walked off Natasha put a hand on my shoulder and whispered in my ear.

"We need a distraction" I nodded and walked off. I skimmed the room and saw them near the refreshment table. I walked in the opposite direction and searched for something to do. I saw a boy my age drinking some punch. I decided to create a distraction. I walked up to him.

"Hi, would you like to dance" He put his punch down.

"There isn't anyone else dancing" I grinned.

"We could change that. I'm Nina by the way" I say introducing myself.

"I'm Seth" he said. He had neatly cut blonde hair, blue eyes, and an attractive smile. He wore a tuxedo and expensive looking shoes. He looks like that boy I danced with in ballet class.(Seth in picture)

"It's nice to meet you Seth" I took his hand and guided him to the middle of the room there was soft music playing but no one was dancing. "I also hope you can keep up because I'm pretty...advanced" I said with a grin. I put a hand on his shoulder and my other hand in his. His free hand met the small of my back and I looked up to see a grin on his face as well.

"That makes two of us" he remarked. A new song played and we began dancing not taking our eyes off of each other. It was like an intense staring contest without rules. Our bodies moved in sync and not once did I have to think about what I was gonna do. I realized everyone had backed up to give us our space while we were dancing. At the end of the song he dipped me and I elegantly lifted my leg (pose in picture). They were all clapping for us. I looked around at the people praising us and gave them a smile saying thank you. I turned back to Seth.

"Wasn't that better than everyone dancing?" He chuckled and nodded.

"Yes, it was" He agreed. "and I guess you weren't kidding when you said you were advanced at dancing." He said still breathing heavily. I laughed. Over his shoulder I could see Cole making his way towards us with a not so happy look on his face.
