Chapter Ten: The Yule Ball

Butterflies danced in Hiccup's stomach. This was the first time he would be with Astrid since he had told her that Jack had found out about Toothless. She hadn't exactly taken it that well, even though she calmed down greatly when Hiccup asked her to the ball. He was wearing light green dress robes, and she walked in wearing turquoise. Her bangs were, for once, out of her eyes, and Hiccup couldn't help but notice that the turquoise brought out her blue eyes. He knew that her reason for wearing the color was for her dragon back home, a Deadly Nadder named Stormfly, who was exactly that color. He himself was wearing light green because it was the color of Toothless's eyes. He smiled nervously as she approached, and she rolled her eyes at him, grinning, as she sat down next to him.

Rapunzel had discovered a way to magically make her hair a bit longer, and she had done so to even the ends. Eugene arrived wearing medium dress robes. She was wearing a light pink robe. These were the same colors that the two had been wearing when they first met. Although it was a slightly strange reason to pick the colors, it brought back memories for them. Pascal was hiding under Rapunzel's hair, on her shoulder, and he was the one who pointed out Eugene's arrival to Rapunzel.

Thanks to Anna, Merida's hair was straight and smooth, as the two had found a temporary, magical way to make it so. Hans was extremely surprised when she walked in, but happily surprised. He was wearing a dark red. Merida was wearing black, which was the color of her horse at home, whom she missed greatly. Anna and Kristoff were both wearing green, and stayed next to the odd couple.

After the champions began to lead the dance (Harry looking extremely awkward), Hiccup and Astrid and Rapunzel and Eugene were the first couples to join them on the floor. The boys were literally dragged, namely Hiccup, who would sooner have fought Astrid than go and dance. However, he couldn't say no -- especially when the blonde had her axe in her dorm. Anna and Kristoff joined them a few moments later.

Harry and Parvati sat down as soon as possible, and both her and her twin found other dates to replace Harry and Ron, who refused to dance. The best friends were joined by Hermione, and Merida could hear them arguing all the way across the Hall. Hermione finally stormed off, and Harry and Ron left. Jack and Elsa came to sit with Merida and Hans a few seconds later. The two were suddenly close enough to have been best friends forever. When Merida kept demanding what had happened, they left and sat at another table. Hiccup and Astrid took their spots; a few of Astrid's bangs had fallen free of their restraint and were dangling in front of her eyes. Hiccup reached down a massaged his foot, groaning.

"And that's why we aren't goin'," said Merida, smirking.

"It's not like I had a choice," he grumbled with a sidelong look at Astrid.

"I heard that," she snapped.

"Oh, gods."

After a few moments of unsuccessfully trying to pacify her, Hiccup quietly suggested that they go see Toothless. Astrid agreed. When they returned, the ball was very nearly over. At Astrid's insistence, they finished off the night dancing. Rapunzel, Eugene, Merida, and Jack were gone; Hans and Elsa explained that Rapunzel had sprained her ankle (she had unwisely shown up in heels), and the four were at the hospital wing.

"But she'll be back in a minute," said Hiccup unconcernedly. "Madam Pomfrey could fix that in a instant." As expected, the four reappeared just in time for the final dance, though this time Rapunzel danced barefoot.

It was a good night for everyone.

DreamWorks Dragons third season had been confirmed :D :D :D It's called Dragon Masters, it's coming in 2015. It'll be on Netflix, I was hoping it would still be on Cartoon Network but whatever. It'll bridge the gap between Defenders of Berk and HTTYD 2 -- including Hiccup's flight suit!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I CAN'T WAIT!!

I'll have to though...
