Scarlet Ghost

XXIII

They land in front of the same abandoned warehouse building as before. The same building Liz had them do their "tests" in. Michelle and Courtney turn back into their human forms and eye the warehouse warily.

"Look I know what you're thinking but trust me this time it'll be different." Liz says.

"If you say so." Michelle says sarcastically.

Liz ignores the remark and motions to them to follow her. She leads them to the side of one of the walls and places her hand in the middle of it. To Michelle and Courtney's surprise the wall opens with a slight hiss and reveals a hidden entrance.

Liz chuckles "Why are you two so surprised?" She says while going through the secret entrance.

They walk down a hallway lit with hanging fluorescent lights until they come to another door at the end. This one opens like a regular door and the room they step into is straight out of a spy movie.

The room is fairly big and is jam packed with all kinds of stuff. There's lots of high tech looking equipment and gadgets on one table, on another table there's a bunch of chemicals and test tubes, along one side of the wall there's a bunch of stuff that looks like armor. But the most impressive thing is the giant computer screen imbedded in the wall.

"Wow this place is so cool!" Michelle and Courtney exclaim.

"You like? This is my center of operations. My master computer helps me with tons of stuff." Liz says while pointing to the giant computer.

A message box appears on the computer screen. Liz goes over and types something on the keyboard and makes a confused face. "It's says there's people outside but that's impossible. There's no way they could've known we'd be here!"

"That's gotta be PHRPA, but how did they find us so quickly?" Michelle asks.

"I don't mean to interrupt here but I have this really sharp pain on the top of my back. Can you see what it is?" Courtney asks.

Michelle sighs "Yeah turn around let me see."
She looks and pulls a small black dot off of Courtney's skin.

Liz had been watching and she was not happy with what they have found "Ugh those creeps, they must've tagged Courtney with a GPS tracker. We led them straight to us." Liz takes the tracker from Michelle and steps on it crushing it.

Suddenly there was an explosion and the door to the lair was blown off its hinges. About 15 of the same soldiers walked in wearing black combat dress and carrying assault rifles, but this time they weren't alone. This time they were joined by a tall stout man who was dressed in olive green military style clothes.

"Fury." Liz says through clenched teeth.

The man known as Fury motions to the soldiers with him and just like that they moved like a wave as they all rushed forward to attack.

Liz pulls a knife out of no where and clenches it tightly in her hand "I'm going after Fury you guys deal with his hired help." Without waiting for an answer she darts forward through the soldiers.

Michelle and Courtney look helplessly at each other as the soldiers close in. Then they reluctantly run forward to meet the first couple of soldiers.

The first soldier is taken by surprise as Michelle punches him. He tries to swing his gun around to fire at her but Courtney takes a hold of his gun and smacks the butt of the gun against his face. He falls backwards and stays down.

"Hey we actually did it!" Michelle says while giving Courtney a high five.

"Oh shoot!" Courtney exclaims as they both barely duck as a spray of bullets pass above their heads.

They barely have time to recover before they see a grenade land a few feet away. They scramble to their feet and barely get away before it explodes. Michelle and Courtney are thrown backwards and there's a weird flash of light then they're standing up. They aren't exactly the same. They're now engulfed in what looks like to be a massive shadow creature!

"What is happening?!" Courtney exclaims. While flinging one arm to the side. As she does the right arm of the shadow creature does the same movement and knocks out a small row of soldiers.

"Wait this must be your demon it's protecting us! We can use this to beat the soldiers!" Michelle says.

"Ooh like a megazord! Go go Power Rangers!" Courtney sings while punching.

It doesn't take long for the soldiers to realize this wasn't what they signed up for and they all try to run away. They didn't account for the fact that they weren't getting out of there alive. Michelle and Courtney made quick work of them.

Then just as quickly as it happened the shadow creature vanished. Michelle and Courtney were themselves again.

By this time Liz has tied Fury to a chair. She looks pretty beaten up and has a couple of cuts and bruises but other than that she's fine.

Liz leans down towards Fury "Now then Fury. You're going to tell us who ordered this hit on us and why."

Fury chuckles "Like I would tell you."

Liz punches him hard in the stomach and Fury coughs and spits up some blood. "That's the wrong answer." Liz then takes her knife and examines it "You've seen what I can do with a knife Fury. Do you really want it done to you?"

Fury just looks at her but says nothing.

"You're trying my patience." Liz then takes the knife and stabs it into Fury's thigh.

Fury cries out with agony and clenches his teeth.

"You'll know what happens if I pull this knife out. Now tell us what I want to know!" Liz says in a voice dripping with venom.

"Alright! The people who want you dead are high up in the inner circle!" Fury gasps.

"Who are they?" Liz asks.

Silence.

She sinks the knife in a little deeper "I said who are they?"

"Augh!! A-alpha and some new comer named Jasmine!" Fury says clearly in extreme pain.

"See now that wasn't so hard was it?" Liz says.

"Ok I gave you what you wanted now let me go." Fury pants.

"Sure I'm just going to allow you to return to back to PHRPA so you can come get us again." Liz takes hold of her knife again and forcefully pulls it out of Fury's thigh.

He screams and breaths heavily. Liz then cuts his feet and the rest of him loose from the chair.

"Now you got about five minutes to find help before you bleed out. I nicked your femoral artery you'll bleed out if you don't get help so I suggest you get going." Liz says bluntly.

A look of horror appears on Fury's face and he stumbles out of the chair and hobbles out of the warehouse.

"Geeze Liz..." Michelle says.

"I don't like doing things that way but we got the information so now we can plan our next move." Liz replies.

"What about them?" Courtney asks while pouting to the soldiers.

Liz shrugs "bon appétit."

Sorry it's taken me so long to update again. I've had the chapter written but I just forgot to put it up lol.

But if you're like me and hotwing3024 then you sang the power rangers theme song too when you read it. 😂
