Scarlet Ghost

XXXIV

The sun is slowly sinking below the horizon when Liz, Michelle, Courtney, and Haley pull up in the van close to the warehouse.

Liz turns around in the front seat "You two ready? Remember you're supposed to get in and tell us where Jasmine is. That way me and Courtney can come help you guys fight her."

"Alright can do." Michelle says.

Liz gives Michelle and Haley each earpieces "Put these on, that way we can communicate with each other."

They put the earpieces on and with one last look at Liz and Courtney, they slide open the door to the van and step out into the alley.

"The warehouse shouldn't be too far from your location. It might be smart to climb up somewhere and view it from a good vantage point." Liz says over the earpieces.

"Copy that." Haley replies.

They duck into an alley that dead ends into a brick building.

"So carry me up there." Haley says to Michelle.

"No I don't think I will." Michelle replies while crossing her arms.

"Well how else are we going to get up there?" Haley asks.

"If you say it nicely maybe I'll carry you up there." Michelle says.

"Ugh fine. Will you carry me up there?"

Michelle doesn't respond. She just stares up at the wall like she didn't hear Haley.

"Will you please carry me up there?"

"..."

Haley closes her eyes and sighs "Will you...pretty please carry me up there?"

"Ah now that's more like it!" Michelle says.

She grabs Haley and together they fly up on top of the roof.

Below them there is a beat up looking warehouse, which if you saw it normally you'd think it was being demolished sometime soon, but with all the PHRPA agents around it the place just seems sketchy. They have flood lights set up in different places and people are constantly going in and out the front door.

Michelle presses two fingers to her ear "Ok Liz we can see the warehouse."

There's a short period of silence then Liz's voice comes over their earpieces "The best way I can see to get in would be through the ventilation system located towards the back of the warehouse."

"Alright just give us a little bit. We'll let you know when we're in." Haley says.

"Ok...you guys be careful, alright?" Liz says.

"So where's the start of the vents?" Michelle says while looking over the edge of the roof.

"Uhh...wait I think I see it!" Haley says. She points to a big vent on the back wall of the warehouse "That's gotta be where we get in."

"Ok then, let's go." Michelle says while jumping off the roof.

They land as silently as they can and creep towards the vent.

Suddenly Haley freezes.

"What is it?" Michelle whispers.

"Someone's coming!" Haley exclaims.

The two of them start panicking because there's no cover anywhere around.

Michelle grabs Haley's hand and yanks her into the closest shadow. Not even a second later two PHRPA agents round the corner and walk towards the back of the warehouse. They're talking between themselves and they stop right in front of the vent.

"Crap now what?" Haley hisses.

"We'll just have to take them out." Michelle whispers.

"You take the one on the left I got the right." Haley says.

They jump out of the shadows and before the two PHRPA agents can even cry out Michelle and Haley have incapacitated them.

"Well that takes care of that." Michelle says.
She then goes over to the vent and pulls it from the wall. "After you my friend."

Haley ducks down and crawls into the vent "I have a feeling I'm going to regret doing this."

"Good, you guys are doing very well so far." Liz says over the earpiece. She is hunched over her computer in the back of the van.

There's a knock on the van door. "Hey Liz, can I come back in now, it's cold out here!" Courtney says.

"No. I told you that you have to stay out there because of what happened last time." Liz replies.

Courtney pouts and slumps against the side of the van. "Well that's dumb. I didn't even do anything last time."

Liz pinches the bridge of her nose and mumbles "Please Lord don't let me kill her."

"Liz! Come in Liz!" Haley hisses over the earpiece.

"Yeah what is it?" Liz replies.

"We're inside the warehouse but the place is swarming with PHRPA agents. We're never going to be able to sneak by them all." Michelle says.

"What should we do?" Haley asks.

Liz sees Courtney drawing a face on the window outside of the van. She smirks "Don't worry, leave everything to me, I have a plan."

Liz rummages around in the van until she finds a bottle full of vodka and the same grenade launcher Courtney blew up Speedball's car with. She slides open the door and gets out. "Courtney you are about to do something very important for us, you understand?"

"Ummm...what am I going to do?" Courtney asks suspiciously while eyeing the grenade launcher Liz is holding.

Liz hands the vodka and grenade launcher to Courtney. "You're going to be our distraction."

"Why am I always the distraction?" Courtney whines.

"Hey this is a life or death situation here. Our lives hang in the balance and if you can successfully distract the PHRPA agents then we can find Jasmine and stop her." Liz says.

Courtney smiles "Well if you put it that way then I'll do it!"

"That's the spirit Courtney!" Liz replies while slapping her on the back. "Now let's do this!"

Courtney mock salutes "Aye aye captain I won't let you down!" She says in an Irish accent.
