Scarlet Ghost

XXXV

"So what are we supposed to do now?" Haley asks.

"Just wait until the signal then climb out of the vent and go find Jasmine." Liz replies.

"Ok...so I guess we just keep moving along the air vent until we come to a place where we can get out then." Michelle says to Haley.

"Guess so." Haley replies.

The two of them continue to crawl their way through the air vents until they come to a section that has vents cut into the side and a large grate in the floor. They pause here and look at what's below them.

There's PHRPA agents everywhere. Each one of them is doing something and they all look alert and wary. There's a large metal garage door in the front of the warehouse which is closed right now.

"So what are we waiting for exactly?" Haley asks.

As if to answer Haley's question, the metal garage door groans and slowly begins to open. All of the PHRPA agents stop what they're doing and turn towards the door. When it opens all the way, Courtney is standing there chugging something out of a bottle. When she finishes whatever's in it she throws it onto the ground and shatters it.

At first no one reacts because they're confused as to why this teenager is here.

Courtney takes an unsteady step forward. "Hey guys how's it going?"

Now all the PHRPA agents are suspicious. Several of them reach for the guns they have in their belts.

Courtney notices this and gets angry "Oh so I see I'm not welcome here. Well that's fine all of you can eat this!" Suddenly Courtney pulls a rocket launcher from behind her back and she begins shooting it around the room.

"Well that must be the signal." Michelle says with a chuckle.

"Or at least we're going to take it as the signal." Haley says with a laugh.

Together they lift the grate up and they drop to the floor. No one tries to stop them because everyone's attention is focused on Courtney, who is laughing like a maniac while she's blowing up people.

Liz appears out of nowhere. "That should hold them off for a while. Now let's go find Jasmine she's gotta be here somewhere."

"Gotta hand it to you Liz, you don't slack when it comes to distractions." Haley says while they're hurrying up the stairs to the second floor.

Liz chuckles "What can I say, distraction is an art, an art in which Courtney just so happens to excel in."

The stairs open onto an empty second floor. There's nothing on this floor except for a figure dressed in a black cloak standing by a window.

"So you've finally made it." She says while turning around. As if for effect there's an explosion from the first floor.

"Do you know how hard it was to get to you?" Liz says angrily.

Jasmine shrugs "It doesn't seem to me that it was hard for you." She pauses as another explosion rocks the warehouse. She shakes her head "Always being loud and intrusive. It's about time all of you learned a better way."

Before Michelle, Liz or Haley could react Jasmine darts forward and lashes out with a series of punches and kicks. Each one connects and Liz, Michelle, and Haley are knocked backwards onto the floor.

Jasmine smirks "Oh come on. Don't tell me you're all this weak."

Liz gets up slowly and wipes the trickle of blood coming from her mouth off of her face. "You'll see who's weak." Liz lunges forward and attacks Jasmine quickly managing to knock Jasmine off balance, and then Liz delivers a hard kick to Jasmine's stomach that sends her staggering backwards.

Jasmine gasps for air. Then she smirks "Well maybe we do have some fight after all."

Michelle changes into her suit and Haley morphs into her werewolf form then the two of them charge forward with Liz. Together they all attack Jasmine. Jasmine does a pretty good job defending against all three of them, but she gets hit by one of Michelle's punches and Haley pounces on her.

Michelle helps to pin Jasmine down and Liz crouches close to Jasmine.

"So why are you doing this? Why go through with anything PHRPA says?" Liz asks.

Jasmine's eyes turn hard and cold. "When I was in high school I was kidnapped by PHRPA. They turned me into a vampire. Then they conducted numerous tortures on me that they called "experiments." They used me as their guinea pig  to find out how to exterminate all vampires permanently."

"Eventually I became used to their tortures they put me through. I became stronger and more defensive of myself and the so called "researchers" saw potential in me. They talked to their commander and before long I was running a small branch in the organization."

"You were made into a vampire?" Haley asks.

"Yes. They treated me like a lab rat." Jasmine says getting increasingly angry. "But they didn't know what they'd unleashed. They don't know the power I possess!"

Suddenly Jasmine emits a strong shockwave that knocks Michelle, Haley, and Liz flying into the far wall.

Michelle shakes her head "What on earth was that?!"

Jasmine laughs and stands up "That is my secret power even they don't know about. I'm going to use it to destroy all of you!"

"What's the point? Destroying us will do you no good!" Liz replies.

"It will make my revenge plan against Michelle, Courtney, and Haley complete! They will pay for pushing me out of their friend circle!" Jasmine snaps.

"You're the one who left we didn't do anything!" Haley protests.

"Enough it's time to die!" Jasmine yells. She fires a large ball of energy towards them.

Liz, Michelle, and Haley jump out of the way just in time as it explodes. The warehouse shakes and some of the ceiling above crumbles.

"Ok guys it's going to take all of us to take her down. Let's do it." Liz says.

Haley looks at Liz and Michelle "It's an honor to be you guys' friends."

Michelle nods "Likewise."

Then the three of them rush forward and attack Jasmine. The avoid the blasts of energy from Jasmine before they tag team her. They land a chain of hits until Liz delivers the roundhouse kick that sends Jasmine toppling over.

Before Jasmine can get up there's another explosion from underneath them. The whole warehouse shakes violently and the floor and ceiling start to crack and crumble. Chunks of cement start falling and the floor starts to give way.

"We gotta get out of here the whole place is coming down!" Michelle exclaims.

"Quick the stairs before it's too late!" Liz says.

"What about Jasmine?!" Haley yells.

"Forget her let's go!" Liz replies while running towards the stairs.

They pause at the top of the stairs and turn back to see Jasmine struggling to her feet. Before she can move very far, the ceiling above her gives way and with a loud crack large chunks of concrete come raining down on her. She only manages a slight scream before she's buried underneath it.

They shudder at the sight and hurry down the stairs. They barely make it out of the warehouse before it collapses in a pile of dust, fire, and smoke.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while I've been going through some stuff...

It's not been fun at all and I'm surviving but it's been tough. A big thanks to hotwing3024 for helping me get through it. You're my best friend and I wouldn't have gotten through it without you I love you!! 💕

But enough of my personal problems, I hope you guys have enjoyed the story so far as well as the chapter.
