" HAROLD EDWARD STYLES! YOU OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT THIS INSTANCE! "
I awoke to the constant banging and shouting from my mother, interrupting a wonderful dream I was having, where I was goofing around in what I assume was a park with someone I didn't know.
I groaned and pressed my pillows against both my ears to block out the irritating noise.
" Go away! " I shouted back and went back to sleep, trying to relive the dream.
" GO AWAY?! YOU'RE ASKING ME TO GO AWAY?! FOR GOODNESS SAKE HAROLD, IT'S SEVEN THIRTY AND SCHOOL STARTS IN HALF AN HOUR! WAKE UP! "
My eyes shot open. What? How could I not remember it's the first day of school?
Shit shit shit shit shit. I waved my arms and legs in the air frantically as I struggled to free myself from all the comfy pillows and my favorite blanky and bolted out of bed, nearly slipping on a few pillows that has fallen off the bed. Thank God my mother had stopped all the annoyance.
I squished the very empty tube of toothpaste but only water came out. I cussed, throwing the empty tube on the floor and searched through the mirror cabinet, knocking down some bottles of lotions and other toiletry stuff in the process.
I finally found one hidden in the corner and pressed it a little too hard and it squirted out like a water gun. I inhaled a deep breath as I try to keep my cool on a delightful Monday morning.
After grabbing everything I needed for school that day, I rushed down the flight of stairs and quickly gulped down the cup of fresh milk my mother had prepared for me, careful not to choke myself. There was also a plate of delicious looking bacon and baked beans with sausages and toast but sadly, I had no time for that.
I whispered a dramatic ' goodbye ' and an ' I love you ' to the delicious plate of food then shouted to practically the whole house, " Mom! I'll eat the food when I get back from school o'right? OK bye mom, love you! "
I slipped on my white Converse sneakers before running to school.
Luckily I had about 5 more minutes until classes start so I made my way to the lockers and grabbed my books for class while putting whatever I didn't need into my locker.
I managed to rush into class before the teacher, Mr. Square, does. Thank goodness.
Mr. Square walked in and trailing behind him was a boy. He had soft-looking brown caramel hair swiped to the right. He was wearing a striped shirt with red-colored jeans that was folded up a little above his ankles with the same pair of white Converse sneakers on.
" Good morning class! " Mr. Square said with much enthusiasm in his voice. "I'm excited to announce that we'll be having a new student to join us for your final year in Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School. " I figured the last bit wasn't at all necessary but he always says unnecessary things anyway. He gestured his hand to the boy, making the attention of the whole class turned to him, like it wasn't already. " Mr. Tomlinson. " he offered.
" Oh um, I'm Louis. Louis Tomlinson. " he smiled nervously then looked at Mr. Square who just nudges him to continue with his eyeballs and eyebrows. " And I'm a.. A transfer from Hall Cross High in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. " he stammered and looked at Mr. Square again, as if begging him to let him stop talking and embarrassing himself in front of the whole class.
Mr. Square sighed, giving up. Probably knowing that he won't be able to get anything else out from Louis. " Alright then, Mr. Tomlinson, welcome to Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School. " again with the unnecessities. His eyes wandered around the classroom while his index finger tapped on his freshly shaved chin continuously, finding a suitable seat for Louis.
There wasn't really much of a choice left as there was only two empty seats available. One next to mine which was right at the back and the other next to the schools bad boy but right in front of the class.
His eyes lit up and his mouth opened widely to a big smile when he made up his mind. " Ah, you may sit next to Mr. Styles at the back. Don't worry, I'm sure the both of you would get along just fine. Go on, now. " he cried happily and gestured to the seat next to mine. Louis followed his gestures and up to my eyes and we both locked eyes. I smiled at him and he quickly looked down at his shoes.
He quietly sat down on his chair and dropped his backpack under the table, avoiding my eyes.
" Hey Louis. I'm Harry. It's nice to meet you. " I said, holding my hand out for him to shake. He looked at me then down onto my waiting hand. He hesitated but shook it anyways.
" Nice to meet you too, Harry. " he forced a smile and looked up to my eyes for a second before letting go of my hand.
He turned his attention towards the whiteboard which is now half-covered with writings. " If uh, if you need anything, just come to me okay? I'll help you. " I whispered to Louis, who just nodded slightly, refusing to take his eyes off the board.
I exhaled softly, guessing that'll be all I'll be getting from him for now. I gave up and took out the stuff I needed from my backpack and started to follow the class for the next two and a half hours before break time comes.
The bell rang and immediately everyone started talking before storming out of the class. Everyone except Louis.
" Aren't you gonna go out for breakfast? " I asked him while digging out for my wallet from my backpack.
He looked up from his notebook when he realized my question was directed at him. " Sorry, what was that? " he asked blankly.
" I asked why aren't you going to go get some breakfast. Everyone else is. " I stated. He looked around the class, noticing my point.
" Oh uh, it's ok. I had a heavy meal this morning. " he stammered, giving me a small smile. A rather forced one if I may say so.
" You sure? School doesn't end for the next four and a half hours. You should at least get something. " I suggested and took a quick peek at his notebook out of curiousity. Luckily, he didn't notice. There's just a small word on it that I couldn't quite make up.
" Yeah, yeah I'm sure. Don't worry about me. " he shot me yet another fake smile before turning his full attention to his notebook, clearly not interested in having this conversation any longer.
I sighed, " Alright then, I guess I'll see you later. "
I walked out of the class and into the crowded cafeteria.
I saw my group of friends on our usual table but I decided not to approach them today despite the fact that it's the first day of school. I figured I'd just catch up with them after school. That's what I do most of the time but they don't mind. They understand that I need my alone time on some days.
After waiting in line to buy myself a nice ham sandwich to fill my empty, grumbling tummy, I walked out of the cafeteria and sat on a stone in the school Japanese garden, where I usually sat. No one really comes here often so it's pretty quiet. One of the reasons why I love coming here. Being out in the nature let's me think clearly.
When I'm finished with my sandwich, I threw away the wrapper and went into the loo to empty my bladder. I walked back to class but Louis wasn't on his seat anymore, making me the only person there. I was hoping I could magically spark up an impossible conversation with him but obviously it's not gonna happen any time soon.
I just sat there waiting for the bell to ring and waited again until school is finally dismissed.
