☆"Sky! We've mined as much iron as we can already, it's time to leave."
Sky wiped sweat off his forehead as he withdrew his pickaxe from the gold ore. Ty's voice echoed the cave system and he replied, "Yeah, coming! Just a few more minutes!"
He grabbed a potato from his bag that rested on a cobblestone block and gobbled it down in eager chomps. He then gathered the remaining shards of gold on the floor. He dropped them into a bag and left the tunnel to meet Ty and Mitch.
He was unaware of someone crouching on a ledge, watching him with glowing eyes. The mysterious man disappeared in a burst of light blue sparks before Sky could even turn around.

Mitch removed his military jacket and slung it over his shoulder. It was getting way too hot. He already took off his cape and tied it around his waist.
He said, "Mining sure wears me out... Say, Bash, Tyler and Brice will be on guarding duty today, right? After the hunting shift? They should be here now. They know we can't leave the village with no guards."
Before Sky could reply, a voice interrupted, "No need to worry, we're right here."
Ty spotted Brice behind Mitch. They were all armed, military-issued rifles over their shoulders and swords on their belts. They were also on their horses, probably making their way to the stables. Brice was towering over the others on his bay Shire horse, Pepper. She was a present from his parents. Tyler was on his bright cremello Morgan, who he named Arthur. He bought him recently, and he was hell to tame. Bash was on his chestnut Warmblood, called Bastard. Yes, Bastard.
Tyler remarked teasingly, "You better get back sirs, I'm pretty sure the base is on fire right now, without their fierce commandant and stoic captain supervising."
He burst into laughter, Sky rolling his eyes but allowing himself to grin. Mitch happily replied, "We're about to head out now. Stay safe, alright? Especially you, Brice, don't want your favorite sorcerer panicking half the base because his poor boy got scratched up."
The guarding shift looked at each other before chuckling. The blond of the group blushed at the mention of his 'best friend'. Still red in the face, he split Bashur and Tyler to protect different parts of the village. Even though it was small, many creatures get attracted to the great amount of people who live there. Mitch, Ty and Sky bid farewell and good luck to the soldiers as they left on their horses.
Brice Purton, a great artist, according to his friends. He might be great with a pencil, but even more 'artistic' with a weapon, that ability gave him the role made him an officer cadet. He often gets picked to be a shift leader. Never got along well with Seto when they were recruits, but they had a little adventure together in their assessment that made them close friends. Some soldiers doubt their friendship, thinking that Brice and Seto like each other... A little more.
Tyler Christie. A great comedian. He tends to make jokes too much though, nearly forgetting that he was one of the Southern Military elite soldiers, an officer cadet as well. When drunk he takes on an old woman persona called Janet and insults everyone. Actually a sweetheart but he never wants anyone to know.
Brandon Dylan Ashur, otherwise known as Bashur or Bash. He may look shy to you but do not mess with him, he did not earn the rank sergeant major for nothing. He may be lower than his friends, but no one denies how hardworking he can be. His skill with hand-to-hand combat is brilliant, but he may be foolish sometimes. He absolutely loves watermelons, and is extremely loud.
The three mounted their horses in the local stable and took off, the civilians waving after them. They kept alert, watching out for any creatures coming near them. They finally reached the base and left their horses at the stables and strolled to the base, carrying sacks of ore. The soldiers stopped what they were doing and saluted their commandant.
Sky raised his hand and dismissed them, "Get back to work, thank you."
The soldiers nodded before rushing back to their assigned shifts, some others who already have done their shifts going back to their shared bunks to sleep. Mitch yawned and said, "I'm going off to dreamland after I throw these ores to the storage room. Hey..."
He turned to a soldier wearing a purple robe, with the Sky Army emblem on a brooch that kept the hood on firmly, and asked, "Seto, where's my big and beautiful best friend?"
Mitch dragged the last word, cooing. The soldier replied, "You mean Jerome? Oh, he's busy stuffing raw fish up his face because he wanted to impress the privates. Please stop him, I won't heal him. Not after last time."
Seto Jonathan Foster. An academically brilliant sorcerer. He was not that brilliant with a sword, surprising since he is an officer cadet, but he uses his magic as an advantage to enemies. He owns a giant lab in the base, where he experiments and studies mobs, learning their weaknesses and strengths. He also is the Head Medic. He sure does have a lot of time on his hands... But that makes him an important soldier to the army. It is rumored that he is an orphan, but he has not reacted to those rumors.
Mitch threw a smile and thanked him before rushing off to put his sack of ores in the storage room, then jumping on his best friend, Jerome, to receive a welcoming piggyback ride. Seto rolled his hazel eyes and went back to reading a book on runes.
He stopped and reported to Sky, "Oh! Martin's hurt from getting attacked by a spider when he was returning from hunting. He's in the ward, recovering."
Ty and Sky exchanged worried looks and Ty asked, "Is he alright?"
Seto looked hesitant but replied, "It's pretty bad. The potion I gave him helped him get better though. He'll recover soon."
Ty and Sky looked at each other again. They sighed, they trusted Seto. He took an extra medical course, and received his badge and certification. Martin's in safe hands.
Sky made his way to the ward, not noticing Seto pull back Ty for a moment. Seto asked in a whisper, "I'm sorry for disturbing you, sir, but I just need to know... Did Brice make it to the village alright?"
Ty was anxious to see Martin but he softened at Seto's question. He patted Seto's back and soothed him, "He's fine. You worry too much whenever you two are apart for five seconds. Besides, I'm pretty sure he has Pepper to kick anyone that comes close to him."
He stepped back and said, "You're good, Seto. He'll come back, he always does."
Seto grinned at him, satisfied with the answer.
The same mysterious man from before paused at the window overlooking the pair. The sorcerer looks so familiar, he can't place his finger on it. That last name, that color of his hair... With a sigh, the man disappeared again in a burst of light blue.
Seto's sensitive ears picked up the teleportation sound and he looked around cautiously when Ty left to see Martin. He was afraid there was a stray enderman in the base, but could not hear anything anymore. He also felt... Something. In his chest. The same feeling he got whenever he was next to a powerful wizard. He placed a hand on his chest, soothing his beating heart and power core.
