This is a rant about my love for Greta Van Fleet, please read, and share your opinions. It will make me smile :)
I've always known about the band, because of their comparison to Led Zeppelin, And I'd heard Highway Tune a few times but that was really it until this year.
I saw some pictures of the boys, and I was like "ok who are they?" And then I went "oh, that's greta van fleet??"
So then I listened to Spotify's This is Greta Van Fleet playlist for a week straight, and the two songs that stood out to me were Flower Power and Anthem.
Flower Power has always made me feel something, since the first time I listened to it. The keyboard solo, the string combinations, joshs fucking voice...It's what made me fall in love with them.
My two favorite genres are Folk and Rock, and gvf really did that.
They are inspired by many different 60s/70s bands, but they aren't trying to be them!!
My stepdad (ironically named josh oop) literally thinks gvf is trying so hard to be Zeppelin and it makes me angry.
I feel like the more you listen to their music, the more and more original they sound. Sure, Josh's voice is a lot like Robert Plant's, but not many other people sound like them. He's got talent.
Plant (this sounds like an article) also said that they are VERY similar to Zeppelin, but he never said it's a bad thing...so like, who the fuck cares?? He also said Josh has a good sense of style too which is very true lmao.
They are also SO YOUNG. Like how can such young people be so talented?? They make me more ambitious to practice my music more, and to pursue in a music career.
So long story short, Greta Van Fleet are in fact inspired by many older artists, but are their own band and are original. Their rock/folk genre is LOVELY AS FUCK and they're music radiates lots of positive and happy energy.
