*Michaels POV*
Her sobs die down as she slowly falls asleep on my lap.
"15 more minutes." Carlisle assured me as we drove in the blustery night. I cant believe I did that. I knew she was in pain, but she wouldnt go. I knew she was wounded, hurt, but I grabbed her.
"You didnt have a choice." Edward spoke. He broke my train of thought, and responded to them also. It was like... he read my mind. "Shes hurt. Constantly hurt. Your doing the right thing." He spat the words out as if it pained him to speak them. Why did he care so much? Why did I tell him everything?
" I just... I dont know... She seems so worried..." I spoke, stroking her matted hair.
"Of course shes worried, Michael. Shes being abused. I know you did your best, but you really should have told someone, anyone." Carlisle spoke up.
"Im sorry... I-" I couldnt hold back my tears any longer. They just started pouring, running down my face as I stared at the young, bruised vunerable girl I was suppossed to be taking care off. I promised her, promised I'd love her, protect her, give a life.
"Micheal, its okay. We know now. We can protect you."
" I dont need protecting." I sighed. " I just need you to protect her." I sobbed, and kissed a sleeping Bonnie as she lightly snored. The day really took it out off her.
"We can protect you both." He stated, looking at me in the rearview mirror. " I give you my word, Michael."

You could see the light of the house from the roadside. As we drove down the cement lane, I was over whelmed by the beauty of the house. Most of it was glass, were I could spot the modern furniture from the drive. What wasnt glass, was wood. There was three storeys. In the drive sat several cars, next to a huge double garage which was attached to the house on the right side. As we parked, Carlisle hopped out of the car and came to Bonnie's door, he opened it and gentley lifted my sleeping beauty as she stirred slightly in his arms.
Edward opened my door, giving me a helping hand out. As we walked threw the house, we never met anyone. I supposed the Cullens were out. But their cars where in the drive? Anyway, thats not my top priority. It's Bonnie. We passed threw the hall, and up the wooden stairs to the second floor. I followed Carlisle who still had Bonnie cocooned in his arms, and Edward tailed me.
We walked into a large open room, which had two full glass walls which had a beautiful view of the forest that the house was swallowed inside. The room was dimly lit and closely resembled a hospital room. I guessed there would be a room like this, considering Carlisle offered to examine Bonnie here instead of the hospital when she started to thrash. He laid her gentely on the bed and removed the sheet Edward placed over her, replacing it with a soft brown wooly blanket. Silently, Edward pulled a wooden stool next to Bonnie and I sat there, grabbing her hand and stroking it softly with my thumb.
As Carlisle rustled threw drawers and Edward stood silently behind me, Bonnie's eyes fluttered open.
"Michael-" She croaked, trying to sit up and letting out a wail as she sunk back down into the blanket. "What-"
"Your at our house Bonnie-" Carlisle began, coming to stand next to the bed beside me. "You refused to go to a hospital after your fall and... we brought you here. This is my office as such, I do many check ups and treat my family here Bonnie, theres no need to be scared." HE spoke in a calm voice as he tried to sooth a frantic Bonnie.
To my surprise she just stared blankly at me, then Carlisle and then agreed to do the examination.
As Carlisle inspected for signs of concussion, Bonnie dropped my hand and when I tried to grab it, she rejected it. Shes pissed.
As Carlisle finished up x-raying Bonnie, he walked to the other side of the room, to discuss the images.
"Edward helps Carlisle at the hospital sometime you know." I spoke to Bonnie as they fussed over near the window. She looked at me with cold eyes and dropped her gazed back down to her hands as she fiddled with the blanket. The silent treatment. Great.
"Bonnie, please-"
"No Michael. No. I said no and you physically lifted me into the car and drove me against my own free will."
"Bonnie, we were taking you to the hospital, not forcing you to smuggle drugs over the border. We were trying to help. We are helping."
She leans slightly forward, rage burning in her eyes. "Oh yeah Michael? You were helping? How'd you help? Did you tell them about Dad? M, he'll go crazy!" She spat.
"He wont have the chance Bonnie, we arent going home."
"Well where the hell do you plan on going Michael? We have to go home."
"We can go to a mot-"
"Dont you dare say motel! Thought you were saving, for our great escape? It wont be so great if we end up sleeping in a cardboard box in Seattle dumbass! And also, I dont know how the hell you plan on paying for this hospital trip, itll cost you a bomb." She spit the words as if they are acid, buning her tounge. She flinches at the last words and clutches her ribs. As she lays back on the hospital bed sighing, I mimick her on my chair. Shes right. I dont have enough money. We need to save.
Edward and Carlisle come over to us, clearly realising they were interupting something. As Carlisle flashes me a sympathetic look, he shows us the x-rays and explains that three ribs are broken. Edward just stands silently behind his father watching Bonnie.
"Michael, if you go with Edward, you can sort out the paper work." Carlisle nods to Edward who walks beside me. I stand from my stool and look to Bonnie. "I'll be right back."
"Dont hurry." She laughs sarcastically. I catch Edward chuckling to himself as we walk out the door. Edward shuts the door behind us into a dimly lit, wooden floored, white walled hall. He walks across the hall and opens another door to reveal what seems to be a study. The walls are lined with books and shelves. In the centre of the room is a thick mahogony desk, piled neatly with papers. After shutting the door tightly, Edward walks to a filing cabinet. I stand in the centre of the room, swallowing the awkwardness between Edward and I. I dont know what to think of him. I can see he cares for my sister, but he's still...mysterious. I have attended school with him for only a year and he mainly keeps to himself, with his siblings. Plus, hes older. Two years to be exact. And considering my sisters colourful past and present, I dont think Edward would improve.
" I think you should stay away from my sister." I blurt out as he retrieves a yellow folder from the back of the filing cabinet. He slowly looks up, walking towards the desk, his eyes on me with a crease in his brow. Why the hell did I just say that?
I mentally slap myself across the face for my stupidity."And why would that be?" HE looks... offended?
"Its just... look... you didnt hear this from me, but... my sister kinda sort of... likes you? I dont know, it sound childish but just, dont lead her on. Okay?"
He sets the file on the desk and looks at me, " I never intended to lead her on." He looks confused now. " I care for your sister, Michael. I dont want to hurt her. I want to be there for her."
Well that took me back. To be honest I expected him to laugh or something. I didnt think he actually cared for her like that.
"Okay..." I am lost for words. " Well, just dont hurt her. Please Edward-"
" I know what shes been threw Michael, I wouldnt do that to anyone, especially Bonnie."
"Good." I sigh, relieved.
"Good." He smiled, mimicking me. "Lets get to the signing." He smiles.
Shit. I dont have money. Oh no.
"Dont worry about the fees, it was good practise for me anyway, I hadnt used the x-ray machine before." He answered my thoughts again. God that was weird.
And then, we began to sign the paperwork.
