*Edwards POV*

"Edward." Esme's soft soothing voice filled my room as she spoke.

She stood at the door frame, staring in at me, waiting for approval to enter.

"Come in." I spoke, my voice hoarse.

"Edward, hunny... I spoke to Carlisle. About the girl." She spoke in her sweet tone, wary of an outburst. She sat next to me, on the black leather couch which I kept in my room.

"I'm sorry Esme. I don't know what to-"

"Don't apologise, Edward. It's quite alright, son." She smoothed my hair softly as she smiled at me. "You care for her." She stated.

"Yeah. Yeah, I do." I surprised myself by even admitting it. I did. I cared for Bonnie Morez. I rubbed my eyes and looked around my moonlit room as Esme smiled at me.

"Good, Edward. You deserve happiness."

"What?" I turn to look at her, her hand falling from my hair.

"I won't get it though." I state, staring into Esme's golden eyes. "Will I?"

"If you want it, you can, Edward."

"Isn't it too much of a risk though? Esme...this family. The secrets. Our world, our lives. I can't drag her into this. Can I?" I was having an internal debate which Esme obviously found amusing, due to her giggles. I never thought much about a life with Bonnie.

I never thought I would get permission from anyone in my family to have it.

Not that it's my family that matters, frankly Esme and Carlisle would welcome anyone into our family.

But, the Volturi though, not so excepting.

My life was complexed.

My species was complexed.

I was something that, people had misconstrued preconceptions off. Stereotypes.

I was a vampire.

My whole family was.

We tried our best to fit in, to live a -dare I say- normal life, but an immortal life isn't exactly normal.

There was rules and regulations, secrets and stories.

It was a world that I don't think a young vulnerable girl like Bonnie could handle, no matter how strong.

But still, that somehow still didn't throw me off the idea.

"edward, do you care for this girl?" Esme asked.

"I just stated so, of course." I said.

"Do you really care for this girl? And say perhaps, if she was introduced to this world, could you protect her, care for her, trust her and let her trust you? And finally edward, could you love her? Because once she is in this world, introduced to us, to us, an the Volturi find out, there's no going back."

I knew that.

This world wasn't something you could forget, or escape. Your mind wouldn't allow it and the Volturi sure as hell wouldn't either.

It was a big decision, which I didn't really have the authority to make, and yet, in a strange sense, she couldn't either.

"I know." I speak. "And everything in my head is saying no, to let her go."

"But what does your heart say?" Esme questioned, rubbing my back caringly.

"To save the girl."

"So save the girl."

Esme smiles before placing a kiss on my matted mop of hair and disappearing threw my door, leaving it ajar.

"So save the girl." I repeat to myself, standing and digging my car keys from my pocket, knowing what I had to do.

I had to save the girl.
