It was just after 10pm when Michael pulled into the driveway to their home, meaning their father was at the bar. The lights were off indicating nobody was home, much to Bonnie and Michael's pleasure. This meant Michael had enought time to get himself and Bonnie to bed without being assaulted by his father.
As she hobbled out of the truck and across the thin layer of ice that was forming on the concrete, still refusing to speak to Michael, Bonnie was glad to be home. She was tired and needed sleep. Sleep to distract her from pain, from Edward and mostly absurd thoughts.
Even though she was injured, worried and scared, it was ridiculous to think that the only thoughts in Bonnies head was the Cullen's and their body temperature. The more she thought of possible reasons, the more she believed she belonged in an asylum. She started with the obvious medical illnesses, but if it was, how come they all had it? They werent genetically related? Thats when she started with the more... non-reasonable reasons. The ones which made her sound absurdly mad.
Michael, oblivious to any off Bonnies Cullen-queeries, was also aware that Bonnie was still pissed with him, fumbling threw his pockets for his keys, he was conjuring possibly solutions on how to make Bonnie forgive him. The silent car journey home obviously indicated it was going to take time. As he guided Bonnie in with an arm around her waist, which she tried to fight off but eventually gave up, neither of them was expecting what came next. As they entered the dark hallway, Michael reached past the large plant that sat between the front door and the lamp, and switched it on. As light filled the room, it revealed something that they feared. Their father.
"Where the fuck have you been?" He slurred, liquor on his breath, staggering down the stairs, bottle in hand. "You little bastards... Tell me!" He screamed, when they didnt answer. Bonnie winced as he shouted, it made her already sore head pound.
As their father ran towards them, Bonnie cuddled in Michael's arms, Bonnie couldnt help but think this was too similiar to the previous events, when she first got her ribs broken, last week.
And as Michael threw Bonnie on the floor, where she cried in pain of the fall, Bonnie felt helpless as she watched her brother fight against his tall, broad father. "Stop it!" She wailed as their father sunk his fist into Michael's stomach, then another collided with his cheek, and a kick to the knees. And as the tears rolled down Bonnie's hopeless looking, bruised, battered face, she knew there was nothing she could do. She was paralyzed in fear. Unable to move, barely breath in pain. And as she recited an apology to Michael in her mind, and coughed up a pool of blood next to her, Michael was becoming less and less conscious as the life was being kicked out of him.
As he screamed for Bonnie to run, and his father created a rythm to his kicks, Bonnie stared out into the night sky threw the wide open front door. The cold winter night air swooped over her and stung her nostrils as she cried out her brothers name.
As the wind got louder, and the cries of Michael died down, he father grunts increased and her sobs loudened, another unexpectant sound was added to the choir of pain. A car engine. And as it reved closer, Bonnie could see the head lights nearing, driving up her drive and the car swung open.
And it wasnt just any car, it was the car it was a silver Volvo. It was Edwards car.
As Edward ran up to the ajar front door, her father had abandoned Michael, and staggered to the front door, slamming it closed. Michael was coughing up blodd too, hands clutched around his stomach, eyes closed. Bonnie sat up from her laying position, and crawled towards Michael, squealing as she did. She gathered Michaels head onto her lap, crying at the sight of his bloody face.
"Edward! Michael, he's, he's bleeding! Edward!" She wailed, hoping her could hear her. Her father was leaning against the front door, locking it by the bolt, screaming at Edward to leave.
