36 - Chapter XXIV

Charlotte kept firing her frozen arrows towards Raiden and Misaki. "*Frost Spear Arrows!" Charlotte shot an arrow in the sky. A huge magic circle appeared and long spears made of ice fell from the circle in a slanting angle. She uses her hand to manipulate the movement of the spears aiming towards Raiden and Misaki who moves and evades in opposite directions to confuse Charlotte. "I know now what you meant by two is better than one. But I will show you how different it is if you, yourself is the guardian! *Master Skill: Rage!"

She used a master skill in which her damage will be doubled but will also receive a double damage. "*Towers of Ice!" She fired arrows in her left and right. A horizontal sphere-shaped tower of ice was created in the trail of the arrow. Raiden was caught in between the towers. He was trapped from his left and right directions. He can't run backwards due to the unknown length of the towers. He can only jump or attack forward. "Checkmate! *Frozen Blade Arrows!"

Charlotte used another skill. This time, the magic circle appeared in front of her and long swords made of ice came out aiming towards Raiden. With that, if Raiden jumped or attack forward, he will still get caught. His only choice is to fend some of the sword arrows to reduce the damage he will receive.

"*Master Skill: Change Locations!" In a knick of time, Misaki switched locations with Raiden. "*Master Skill: Barrier!" Then she used a barrier to defend herself from the sword arrows. While doing so, she consumes mana potions to keep the barrier alive.

"So you took the role of being a shield for your guardian, huh?" Charlotte stopped her skill and dashed towards Misaki. "*Master Skill: Cancel Barrier!" She touched Misaki's barrier and was destroyed. Misaki was surprisingly shocked that Charlotte has such master skill. She easily broke her defense. Charlotte is now few inches close to Misaki. She smiled as she proudly said. "With my command spell, I will use my final skill! *Finale Skill: Frozen Crystal!"

Charlotte fired an arrow at Misaki. She immediately turned into ice and shattered into pieces.

"I-I won!" Charlotte shouted as she was able to defeat Misaki. But she noticed a scroll on the ground to where Misaki was a while ago. "A-A scroll?!?"

"Phew! That! That was soooo close! I thought I'd never survive that!" Charlotte heard Misaki's voice few meters away in front of her. She was surprised to see Misaki still alive.

"Y-You're still alive?!?"

"Y-Yeah. Barely.."

"H-How?!? How did you survive that?!?"

Just in time as Charlotte chanted to use her final skill, her eyes took away from Misaki for a few seconds. That's Misaki's chance to use a shadow scroll to make a duplicate of her. She stepped back few meters away and hid herself with camouflage scroll. She don't know what is the scale of damage of Charlotte's final skill was but it's pure luck that it's only single-target. If the final skill is multi-target or wide-area damage, she would still be caught in it.

"I-I say, you also need an escape plan in case of emergency and.. uhm.. a lot of luck. Hehe."

"Tsk.. L-Luck? Hahaha! Well, I admit... you're good. Hey, you're in a group right? Why don't you join our group instead? We.. had a better future than the Future Tech thought the future was supposed to be. They ruled the world for decades now yet there's still a way better future for us and for the world. We need another ruler to take us to a more futuristic future. That's what we are fighting for."

"What will you gain when you acquired the Holy Book?"

"We will reveal to the world the dark side of the future the Future Tech made."

"Th-The dark side???"

"So you in?"

"Hmm.. Sorry.. I'm not interested in joining such group. I was.. just got.. well, it's kind of complicated but if I join one, I think I would like to join this group I was in right now."

"I see.. Just don't get in our way or else you will know what will happen. Well then, with my command—-" Charlotte is chanting her final skill but she was interrupted when someone tapped her shoulder. She turned back and was very surprised to see Raiden.

"He was there for few minutes now and I never thought you will not notice him. It's kind of disrespectful if we attack you from behind so.. Rai, with my command skill, I order you to use your final skill!"

"*Finale Skill: Final Dance- Wind Cutting Slashes!" Raiden slashed Charlotte many times in a rhythmic dancing motion. Her HP is depleted and she starts to disappear as she was defeated."

"Good fight." That's her last words and she smiles as she fully disappeared. Misaki smiled back and gave a bow as a sign of respect.

[Azalea]: Hey secret agent-san, I'm done here. I'm going now to help Hyacinth.

[Poinsettia]: Great work Mi—Azalea!
