Chapter 4:
We're at home now and my mom and dad were at the door, waiting for us. PARENTS WILL ALWAYS BE PARENTS. I gave a huge smile at them and run towards them, while my brothers are just walking and waiting for them to reach the house. I hug my mom and dad so hard, my sign of thanking them because I finally have friends and I saw what does outside world looks like.
"Did you have fun?" My mom said with a smile that I can see her teeth out.
"It was so wonderful mom! I met Ethan Whitley! Then Atticus and Hugo introduce me to their friends! Thank you again. Thank you so much!" I hug them again, soft this time.
"She's so happy," Atticus said.
"It's very obvious my son!" My dad said, with a big smile showing his dimples. And with that, we entered our home and relax.
******
"That's wrong. You did it the wrong way," Atticus said, teaching Hugo. I want to ask my dad about the headphones on computer, and strangeness that my classmate do while having this headphones on, and about the people that they can't manipulate. I went to my dad's office. He's silently reading a book and his phone was ringing, but he is so focus in his book. I don't know if I should ask him because he's overloaded doing his work, until he saw me.
"Kezia, what's the problem," he asked then I nod and walk toward him then I sat down, rubbing my pants because it's full of sweat.
"Hey dad. I just want to give thanks because you let me go to school. I really appreciate it," I said, smiling at him.
"You're very welcome. How is it by the way?" He asked. His gaze is on mine, and he smiled back.
"It's really weird," I said, eyeing him.
"How?"
"Well, first, can I ask you something?"
"Okay. About what?" He asked again.
"About the people who they can't control. Then, something odd happened when I was on the school. I want to talk about it, if that's fine?" I inquire. He looks shocked and awe.
"Sure. What about it?" He said, trying to be normal. He's shaking a little bit. I wonder why is he shaking.
"When I went to my first class, me and my fellow students went to the computer, because the teacher said so. Then, my friend Ethan told me that I have to put my headset on so that I would know what am I supposed to do. Before I put it on, I saw my classmate doing strange things. I have no idea why are they doing that and what is making them do that. Then, I put my headset on to figured it out. The computer said, 'Close your eyes, and listen to the sound'. I thought I'm going to do odd things too, but I didn't. I didn't heard a sound too from the headset. Why is that?" My explanation.
"Interesting," my dad said. He looked so puzzled.
"And, I don't know if you would believe me but, sometimes, I can read people's mind. I'm.... scared. Because before we leave the school, we headed down at the school's commissary, and they were talking about the people who they can't control. Was that necessary? I mean, was that even exist?" I asked with a big questioning eyes. My dad opened his mouth and he's about to answer my question, but Hugo and Atticus entered, they are loud and laughing so hard it hurts my ears, but they stop when my dad looked at them that somehow telling them to stop.
"Did we interrupt your conversation?" Atticus asked.
"Oh no! Not really!" My dad said, and he gave them a melty look.
"Sorry," Hugo said.
"Do you have anything to say? Because your sister and I is on the middle of discussion," he said, his eyebrow went up.
"Yes, actually. I just want to asked if my equation here is right?" Atticus said, giving his paper to dad's. He nod, and nod, then talk.
"You're right," dad said, almost a gasp, then he smiled at them. He gave the sheet of paper back to Atticus and they start moving.
"See! I told you!" He said, while walking out of the door.
"So, where are we?" My dad asked. I don't know if I should stop this conversation, I'm not comfortable with this.
"Never mind. Just ignore what I said. It doesn't really matter," I said then I walked away but I stop when dad called my name. "Kezia," he said.
"We'll talk about it. It really matters. You have to know what's the truth," he said then I get back and sat down. Talk about what? This is really confusing. I'm rubbing my hand so hard so it'll stop sweating. My gut is aching so much that I'm about to throw up. I looked pale and he does too. Something mysterious happening here. I have to know what is the mysterious thing is, I have to.
