Chapter 10:

Amanda's P.O.V

Why does life have to be a bitch to people?

Why does everything slip through your fingers when you finally have the world?

Those questions continously roamed through my head as I walked home. I couldn't even bother to wait on my family.

For those of you who are wondering- yeah, it's true. I can't help but feel the slightest of tingles whenever I am with Connor. Maybe it's the harmones that make me feel this way- I think.

I got home, took a shower and then went to sleep not even bothering to acknowledge my best friends on my arrival.

Connor's P.O.V

After Amanda left I asked my mom to have a word with her. We were currently a few meters away from where the bench was.

"Mom! How could you choose a wife for me without my consent!? " I yelled at her.

" Don't you dare raise your voice at me young man! I am your mother, therefore I should be able to make choices for you seeing that I know what's best for my child!"

"Cut me some slack woman.  You have never been a mother to me since the day Allison killed herself." When I said that I could see the hurt that flashed through her eyes.

" Connor" she continued "you know I love you and I only want to see you happy. Please, I am begging you, just do this for me once. Abigail is a good girl. She would do anything to make you happy."

Not wanting to look at her and lie, I held my head hung low before speaking " I-i cant"

"Why?"

"Because I'm already engaged. The lady you saw me with was my fíancee. She and I were gonna tell you soon when you and dad come over on Saturday." I paused
" And also, she's pregnant with my child."

"Lord. Pregnant?" She asked me.

"Yes." I answered then she started laughing like there's no  tomorrow.

" That was a good one Connor but now's not the time for jokes."

"I'm not lying, mom." I told her.

"Prove it then. Saturday me and your father are coming to your house. I'd like to see you get a pregnant girl to act as your fiancee in two days." She

"Mom, that's the problem with you, you never believe anything I say once you don't have your own way. But who needs Saturday when we can go to her house now?!"

My mom looked dumbstrucked but after a while she finally decided to answer to my sudden outburst.
" Okay. Lead the way."

"C'mon then.  But first I have to apologize to Abigail on your behalf for filling her head with such nonsense.  "

Abigail's P.O.V

I stood there awkwardly waiting for Connor and his mother to come back from their little 'talk'. After a few minutes of waiting I heard Connor shout at his mother obviously angry at what she did. I waited my whole life for this time to come. I was so happy  I felt like I was on cloud 9 when I 'accidentally bumped' into Susan at in Canada .

I was knocked out of my thoughts when I heard footsteps coming towards me. I panicked then realized that it was  only Connor and Susan.

Connor stood there as if he was  contemplating to himself to tell me something.  After what seemed like forever, he spoke. " Abigail I am really sorry but I can't marry you."

At that moment my whole plan came crumpling down like bread crumbs.

" What?  Why?" I asked.

He merely looked at me then at his mother who was obviously happy for something. " Because I already have a fiancee who is going to bring forth my child in a few months time. Once again I am really sorry." He turned to Susan before continuing " I hope that this is a lesson well learnt and will be brought into consideration next time before you make decisions for me, mom." Then he walked off, leaving me and Susan behind.

Sensing the tension of awkwardness between us now Susan tried to make conversation. "Ummm.... we were gonna go visit Connor's fiancee now. Would you like to join us?"

I would never miss out on an opportunity like this so I put on my best fake smile and curtly nod towards her.

" Okay then. Let's go." And with that we joined Connor in his car and took off toward 'her' house.I wasn't going to just back down now for some slut to take what's rightfully mine!

Connor's P.O.V

After walking away from my mom and Abigail,  I went to my car and waited on my mom for whatever she was about to say to Abigail to finish.
In about 3 minutes or so I saw my mom walking with Abigail  to the car. I immediately knew that she had invited Abigail to see Amanda. I wanted to so badly tell her to leave cause we have no business left with her but I knew that that would be very rude knowing that I just declined our 'engagement'.

On the ride to Amanda's place (which I got the address from Tony before leaving) I prayed to god that everything will go well so that mother won't be disappointed in me to know that I lied to her.

When we got there I got out of the car and made my way up to the door with my mom and Abigail on my trail.  I rang the doorbell thrice then I heard some shouting before the door opened, revealing Amanda. When she saw us her eyes widened. I stepped inside and kissed her. " Hey honey. Did we wake you?"
