I wake up to see Haruki sitting on the chair by the window. He looks so peaceful as he sleeps, face completely relaxed. I stand up and walk over to him, brushing some of his hair out of his eyes. "If I can't. No. If I don't make it out of this.... I'm going to miss you so much..." Tears well in my eyes as I bend down a lightly peck his forehead. "Sora?" He asks, voice heavy with sleep. "Hi. How'd you sleep?" I say, trying to keep my voice light. "Baby, what's wrong?" He asks, blinking and looking into my eyes. "Nothing, just sleepy." I reply, snuggling into his embrace.
We sit like that for a while, no one saying a word. I listen to the thump of his heart beat while drawing invisible circles on his chest. "Sora? It's time for the next test." Pao comes in, looking sympathetic. "Alright. Bye Haruki." I say, climbing out of his embrace. "I'll be waiting for you right here." He says, readjusting his position. I smile, and follow Pao out of the room.
Pao leads me into the same room, but instead has me stand with my back against the wall. "We'll be scanning to see if this could have any affect on your ability to stay still." He says simply, waiting for the doctor to arrive. "Ready for today?" Doctor Saito asks, walking into the room. "Uhhh yes?" I say, hesitant. "Okay. I want you to stand or lean against this wall. Stand however is comfortable for you, that you feel you could do for a while." I nod, and once I'm in position, leaning with one foot propped against the wall and hands folded across my chest, she starts a stopwatch.
It's had to have been at least fifteen minutes I've been standing there. I drop my foot and fidget with my hands. Surely fifteen minutes is long enough. "Two minutes...." Doctor Saito says. "Impossible. I had to have been standing there for longer!" I exclaim, straightening up. "I'm sorry Sora... But the timer doesn't lie. Can you tell me any symptoms you may have experienced before?" She asks, sitting down at the computer. "Well...... I'd get really bad headaches. The usually don't last for long though. I'd also get really dizzy or feel nauseous." I say, looking down.
"Okay... Sit in the chair for me." She says, putting gloves on. "Due to previous scans, we know there are issues with some of your organs as well. I'm going to take a couple blood samples to scan and compare to others, Alright?" She says, pulling out a syringe and vial. I close my eyes and look away, wincing as the needle breaks skin. "I'm done, Sora. You can go walk around now or go back to your room." She says, walking out of the room. I stand slowly and head back towards the room.My head feels heavy as I walk back, and I lean against the wall for support. My vision slowly starts blurring and it becomes hard to breathe. "Not now....." I mumble, stumbling to regain my footing. I can see my room coming closer and closer, just as more dark spots appear in my vision. "Almost.. There..." I try to push on. To get back to the room. To Haruki. Then the world, once again, goes dark.
