It's been two days I've spent here at Haruki's, but it feels longer. My mother keeps calling, begging for me to come back, to come home. Dad hasn't made a move to fix anything though. Now I'm sitting with Haruki for breakfast, discussing what we should do.

"I hate to say it, but I probably should go back." I look down at my hands, muttering the sentence. "I'm not letting you go back there. Your dad sounds like he values his money more than his own damn daughter!" We've had this same conversation the night before, but I know I should go back. "Sora... Look at me." I look up at Haruki, biting my lip. "I know you want to go back, but what he said hurt you. Stay with me." "But." "No Sora. You're going to stay with me. We'll figure something out." I look out the window, watching rain drops lightly roll across the glass. Haruki sighs, and I hear him grab his keys. "I'm going to work baby. I'll see you when I get back." He places a kiss on my cheek and walks out the door, leaving me to my thoughts.

"I know, mom. I'm sorry." I stand at the stove, waiting for the water to boil. "Please come home Sora! I and you're father miss y-." "Dad misses me? He sure does act like it doesn't he." Sarcasm drips from my voice. "Please. We'll find new help for you. Just please come home." Silence on both sides of the line. "Sora?" "Fine. I'll come home tomorrow." "Oh thank you! Thank y-." I hang up and sigh. "So much for feeling hungry." I mutter as I turn off the stove. I throw my stuff in my suitcase and pause. Why should I go back? To be bashed by father again? To listen to him and my mother fight? And what about Haruki? I would've had to go back eventually. I guess it was sooner rather than later,

"Sora? What's wrong? Why is your suitcase over here?" Haruki asks as he walks in the door. "I thought we discussed that you're not going back." I stand up and put an arm on his shoulder. "Baby I-," "No. I can't watch them hurt you anymore." I sigh and lower my hand. "You have to trust me with this alright?" I look back up at him. "This is my decision. I appreciate that you want to protect me, but I have to go back to them." He stays silent for a while, chewing on his cheek. "Alright. I'll drive you there tomorrow morning at nine." I smile at him. "Thank you." Instead on responding, he pulls me into a tight hug. "Anything goes wrong, you call me, yeah?" I nod. The rest of the night is spent with a little tension, worry in the air for tomorrow.
