A Close Friend Pt. 3

It's been several minutes since a scrap broke out between Laurent and Andre...and for Larry as well as the others witnessing the unexpected brawl it's been one minute too long. Everyone has tried to break it up with Eleni pleading with them or else the authorities would be involved...but neither plea nor physical attempts to pull them apart has worked. All Laurent sees is red so he's beyond fury and with each punch he's hurling insults and anything hurtful he can think of as he's completely devastated that someone who was supposed to be his close friend could betray him. Not only betray him but do so with the person who means the most to him. And Larry. He was a willing participant not once but twice. The pain resulting from such a level of deceit is unimaginable. The punches to each other have now begun to manifest by way of blood dots in the corner of their mouths and there are also signs of bruising. Laurent throws another punch then yells, "you said you didn't want him! You lied"! It takes one final attempt from their other friends to successfully pull them apart and it's right as the cops are pulling into the parking lot. With someone holding each of them back Laurent and Andre continue to look at the other. Laurent's face is still that of anger and all he wants is to be let go so he can unleash on him again...but Andre's face is showing something different. It's as if he feels really remorseful that he and Laurent came to blows though he completely understands his hurt as well as his anger. He just never thought there would ever be a day he would be in a physical altercation with his best friend. Laurent isn't see red so much now that he sees the uniformed officers coming towards them so he drops his head then whispers, "fuck". The 911 call informed them that they were coming because a fight broke out and when they come much closer they can clearly see the after effects of it. With damaging physical evidence they don't need to ask questions such as who started the fight and why. Assault and battery is all they need to know. They even throw disturbing the peace in the charges and within seconds Laurent and Andre are in handcuffs. Larry bursts into tears when he sees those cuffs go on Laurent and although his body is pretty banged up after slamming onto the asphalt that doesn't stop him from getting up and making his way towards the squad car his love is being put in the back of. He's limping and crying all while trying to get to him as fast as he can. He's pleading with the officer to let him go...but his pleas are ignored. He frantically begins to ask what he needs to do to get him out of police custody. He's told in a flat voice, as the officer is used to giving out this type of information, that the judge will set the bail amount and if he's unable to pay it then he can contact a bail bondsman. Before he gets behind the wheel he informs Larry that Laurent will be able to contact someone who can post bail. When Larry asks if he can be given an indication of when that will be the officer flatly replies, "as soon as he's made aware". And just like that he's inside then cranking up the engine to take off. His heart is breaking as he watches Laurent being taken away in the back of a police car. Naturally he's thinking that he can't believe this is what he's watching. He then realizes that if it weren't for he and Andre's deception it wouldn't be. Laurent hasn't looked at him since the fight broke out which means the hurt he feels is on another level. The car is eventually out of sight so he turns to see what's going on with Andre and that's when he notices that he's also in the back of a squad car which is now taking off. Larry runs his hands through his fro then turns to look at Eleni with tears heavily in his eyes. Eleni can't deny that she's upset at what's come to light but he's family to her too so she steps forward to give him a comforting hug then whispers that it's going to be ok and they will get Laurent out as soon as they can. For now she just suggests that they go back to he and Laurent's home since all they can do for now is wait...

Now at home Larry is resting on the couch and Eleni has been getting him everything he needs since it's a bit difficult for him to walk. There haven't been too many words exchanged as Larry has mostly stared at the ceiling still in complete disbelief that his heartbeat is in jail. At one point he felt his eyes stinging and immediately after he felt the sensation of tears running down his temples. Everything is a mess now. Not only is his love in jail and unsure about when he'll be able to bail him out, he now knows about him and Andre so he has no idea what will happen with their relationship. He wipes away the two tears that just escaped from his eyes and now he hears Eleni coming back over so he looks up at her as he hears her soft voice telling him, "I made you some tea". He carefully sits up then gently takes the mug from her while whispering, "thank you". Her reply is a sweet, "you're welcome" then she takes a seat on the sofa across from him. After a few sips he looks over at her and her focus is on the floor as if she's deep in thought. Eleni has been a part of their lives for years and the three of them know each other well so Larry says what he's sure she feels...
