Vaduz, Lichtenstein
The days since receiving the divorce papers had been hard on Dionysius, but they had also been full of necessary insight and some healing. He sat on a bench, the necessary amount of metres away from the Sius offices, hoping to catch a glimpse of his wife in the beautiful sunset. He was in all black, with sunglasses, and surprisingly enough it seemed to offer him some form of anonymity. Then again Vaduz was quieter than Paris, Vienna and Milan. He didn't know how to reach her, she had changed her phone number, wouldn't reply to emails, no one would tell him where she was and there simply wasn't anyone in Sius he trusted to risk their job to get her a message from him. All the notifications he got about her were related to the articles about him; it was dead quiet on her front. He wasn't even sure she'd been to the company since the day she took it from him. He left a note with her divorce lawyers to let them know that he was in town and would sign the papers if she granted him a face-to-face meeting. Andrea had said it was a foolish move, considering he very much did not want to divorce his wife. Mikulas had said it would be near impossible for her to agree to meet with him given all that had passed between them. Dionysius wasn't hopeful she'd meet him, and part of him knew that as long as she refused to meet with him they would stay married.
"Mr. Plutarch..."
It had been so long since he heard Myrtle's voice, a voice he had been so entirely used to waking him up and conducting all his affairs, his Alexa before Alexa, his personal siri. A few months ago his day had begun and ended with that voice.
"Myrtle!" he chimes, smiling up at the redhead...who now appeared to be fully platinum blonde.
He removes his sunglasses and wonders if he should mention anything about it, seeing as many things had changed drastically since they last saw each other. She runs an idle hand gracefully through the sleek long bob, smiling almost beautifully back at him. He could be imagining that it was a mixture of pity and delight he was seeing in her green eyes. He was probably imagining it.
"It's good to see you sir. I didn't get the chance to say how sorry I was about everything that's happened to you." Myrtle says, the sound of her voice a soothing familiarity, a reminder of his more glorified days
"Life happens to the best of us Myrtle. I'm glad it's been kind to you." He shrugs, watching her blush and sway on her heel
Had she spotted him from the office? How had she known to find him here? Or was it just a coincidence that the former CEO and his former executive assistant were exchanging pleasantries on a park bench this close to Sius?
"It should've been kinder to you Sir. You're the best boss I've ever had." she sighs sweetly, which wasn't the worst proposition he'd heard.
He starts to wonder if he should give Myrtle a note for Makenna. If he should ask after his wife. Did she come into work today? How is she doing? Suddenly he recalls that Myrtle probably worked for Hannelore.
"Isn't Hannelore treating you right?" He wonders, seeing no way Eva would be horrible to anyone, not even Myrtle.
Eva... if he played his cards right...might be persuaded to pass his wife a note from him.
What would it even say? Hey, I know I've been a major dick lately but it's nothing some couple's therapy and you sleeping beside me each night can't fix.
"She isn't you, sir." Myrtle shrugs, calling his attention back to the redhead that was now blond.
She had stretched out a long shapely leg from underneath her coat, so smoothly the movement seemed unconscious.
"Perhaps you should mention it to my wife. She might see to it that you're transferred where it suits you. She's the boss now, as it is." he says, battling with confusing feelings of pride and betrayal.
His wife was more successful than him; she had also stolen his company from right under him. Makenna. He sighs at the thought of seeing her again. It was by the power of her never ending charm that he found himself looking forward to seeing that perfect face and sinking his nose into the warm scented skin of hers and his lips into the curve of her inner thigh.
"Speaking of your wife, she sent me with a message for you." Myrtle curtly interrupts his daydream, reaching into her coat pocket to pull out a neatly folded, typed out note
"She says come alone." She adds coolly
It was an address and a time. No greeting, no name, no signature, just an address and a time.
So it seems Makenna had sent Myrtle to him. She wanted to see him...or rather, she wanted the divorce papers signed desperately enough to cave in.
"She knew I'd be here?" He wonders, fighting a little smile at the thought that she knew him well enough to predict that he would.
"She said you might be." Myrtle mumbles back stiffly
What a cruel way to treat your husband, Makenna.
He didn't recognize the address, except that it seemed some ways off the city limit. She probably didn't want any press and didn't trust him to be civil with her in public. His heart was racing; he would get to see her again, maybe even explain himself and talk her out of the divorce proceedings, on the other hand he had promised to sign the papers if she saw him face to face, and this was a face to face meeting. He's so deep into his considerations he doesn't notice Myrtle leaving, doesn't hear what she says before she goes, just sits there staring at the address and time.
Makenna..
What new hell would she open up in his soul now? Fuck! This was going to be a disaster by all means!
He had to find something to wear, and prep his speech, his arguments, his bargains. In a few hours time he would be some ways off from the city, staring his wife in the face, explaining why they shouldn't get divorced! This was both better and worse than simply catching a glimpse of his beautiful wife in the sunset.
Come alone.
Who would he even have come with?
