"Can I ask you something?" Sao wonders, turning to Dionysius Plutarch, who temporarily stops his boxing to glare at the intruder
He hadn't asked to see his former best friend, and yet the man was here somehow. What was he going to do? Rub it in his face that Makenna was now with Lachlan? Ask him to sing kumbaya and grow from the experience?
"That's a trick question, I'm going to ask you anyway." Sao assures the man who had turned a glare towards him
"You've been here almost a month so I feel like some of your sense might have returned, but my question is this... what do you hope to achieve here?" Sao pries as calmly as he could
He couldn't deny that he was slightly vexed by all this, by Dio's behaviour, especially towards Makenna and the baby but in general towards everyone.
"What do you hope pushing me and your wife and child and your parents away will achieve? Where does this take you in say ten years? Where? Makenna will probably just end up settling for Lachlan because he's the furthest thing from...whatever this is you've decide you are now... You'll have a child you will rarely ever get to see, who calls Lachlan or someone else dad, who sees your parents more often than they see you... You'll have no one you trust in your life. What will you have gained exactly?" Sao pries
"Whatever it is you gain by pretending Makenna is some kind of saint who can do no wrong no matter how many vile wrong things she does to me." Dionysius declares getting back into his boxing rhythm
"And what if we put together a joint statement admitting that Makenna is not perfect. What then?" Sao wonders dryly at this absolute idiot
"I mean... look at you now...you're beyond miserable. You violently kicked her out of your hospital room, jeopardizing your baby in the process, banned her from visiting and now you go around angry at the entire world because she's not here, begging you for forgiveness or whatever it is you want her to beg you for." Sao points out
"It just goes to show where her priorities are!" Dionysius bites back
"Her priorities are that she's pregnant with your child and has had the most drama-filled pregnancy ever known to mankind including almost dying and almost going into labour a few months early because of your shenanigans and she'd like some peace!" Sao grumbles
"You can't be dumb enough to think that baby's mine Sao. Simple math will tell you otherwise, isn't that your strength??" Dio dryly pries
"Simple math like who was she fucking nearly six months ago or the simple science of the paternity DNA test the superintendent had her do in order to prove that you, not Lachlan, are the father of her child? Do you even understand how much she's been through?"Sao probes angrily
Well she wouldn't have had to take a paternity test if she wasn't fucking Lachlan now would she?
"I'm not trying to say you haven't been through some very trying things Dio. I'm saying you're not the only one. If I were to give you unsolicited advice, I'd say get your mind together and talk to your wife. If you don't want to lose her and your child, sit down with her and listen for once in your life." Sao offers grimly to the frowning Dionysius Plutarch
"They'll be discharging you soon, back into the real world, and you'll have to choose if you're going to face it all alone, angry at the world and the people who love you, or if you're going to go home to your pregnant wife that you're clearly still in love with, and your mom and her loukoumades and your dad and his jokes and me and my gorgeous existence." Sao states
If, and that was a huge if, Makenna's baby was his, he was about to become a father of two. How could he explain it, to her, to both his babies, to Sao and his mother and his father, to the police, that he had gotten Myrtle pregnant in order to survive his kidnap? That he had traded sex for his life? Would they even believe him? What proceedings would he even have to file to gain full custody of his child with Myrtle? And would Makenna even let him near their supposed child after everything? She'd been so scared of him...
