Cherri's P.O.V.

“Jake?”

I woke abruptly from sleep hearing his groan.

I was a complete and utter wreck. I hadn’t had a good night’s sleep or substantial meal in 3 days.

I had to argue with the nurses to stay here, and eventually they brought me blankets and a pillow, but my back was stiff from sleeping, or should I say lying in the chair.

I flicked my eyes to the bed. Did he just move?

“Jake?”

His eyes flickered open and I breathed a sigh of relief as I finally saw the familiar blue that I’d been missing.

“Cherri?” he gurgled then stopped, clutching his throat, pausing and frowning

“Cherri?” he said again, huskily.

“I’m here baby,” I grasped his hand, “I’m right here.”

His eyes came into focus and he grinned.

“Cherri!”

“Yes baby!” I laughed

“Thank you God.” I muttered a silent prayer.

He slowly sat up in bed, still grinning at me.

He frowned, “Where am I?”

“Hospital, Jake. You’re in hospital.”

His frown deepened, “Hospital? But why?”

I sighed, “You don’t remember. Jake... Ryan Drake shot you.”

He went to open his mouth, stopped and thought and then nodded, “I remember. Where is he now, they took him away didn’t they? He’ll rot for what he did, to your mom, to you.”

“To me? Jake he shot you!”

“It doesn’t matter. He’s in prison now, it’s all that matters.”

“Jake,” I took a breath, “He’s not in prison.”

“WHAT? Where is he?” He frowned, “What do you mean? I swear, I'll track him down and kill him myself. How did they let him get away?"

“After you went down... he killed himself. One shot to the head and he was out.”

“Oh.”

“Great,” I cursed, “I knew it wasn’t the right time to tell you. Me and my big mouth always messing everything up. Why do you want me Jake? Oh, who am I kidding, you probably don’t want me anymore. I’ll just go, leave you alone and I’ll—“

He laughed, “Cherri, get in here.”

I turned, “Where?”

He lifted the covers, “In here beautiful.”

I walked towards the bed, before stopping, “Is it allowed? What will the doctors think?”

“Oh who cares? You’re Cherri Alonso. Since when did you care about what everyone else thinks?”

I laughed, sitting on the bed.

Jake winced.

“Oh God, Jake! I hurt you! I’m sorry, I’m so, so sorry! I’ll call a nurse, she’ll look over you or something. I’m sorry!”
