"Wow, that was quite a mess," I say as Meli put me down, he tidies up my hair and gets a damp cloth cleaning my face, "I can do it myself..."

"I like taking care of you, let me do it?" He says with a smile and I nod letting him. 

Once Meli has finished, I sit opposite Mead as Meli starts talking to Mead, "So, kid. About what you said in the village," He starts.

"You two are both kids as well!" Mead says.

"We're really not," I shake my head, "But is it true what you said?" I try.

"I'm hungry, I might remember more once I've eaten," The kid says.

"You got any money?" I ask.

"Nope," Mead answers.

"Fine. I'll feed you something after you answer my question," Meli says but Mead disagrees wanting food first.

Meli makes Mead something to eat, I do feel sorry for the boy, but with lies and pranks and try to bargain himself around the information, he deserves bad food. Meli pours himself a pint of ale and me a glass of wine. I guess he noticed my thoughts of wanting something other than ale. He places them on the table, I sip my wine as Mead comments on the looks of the food.

He takes a very large bite and throws it back up, Meli holds a tray up shielding us both, "I never said it'd be good food, did I?" Meli says, "Anyway, when you said you know The Eight Deadly Sins... Did you mean it?" He asks.

"That food did something to my memory and now I've forgotten everything," Mead looks away.

I sigh and slam my fist down making the kid jump, "Don't be a spoiled brat, do you want to go back out there where they were throwing rocks at you?" I ask.

Mead ignores me, "Is that Vanya Ale? Should a kid like you be drinking liquor like that?" He says.

"I told you, we ain't kids," I say with a sigh.

"It tastes really good doesn't it?" Meli nods, "It smells like apples and is sweet and full-bodied. It's the best ale around," He declares happily then blushes a little, "At least that is what I hear from the adults..." 

The door opens and Hawk and Elizabeth walk in, "Hey you two," Meli greets them and I slide my hand into his, he gives it a squeeze reassuring me that he is still mine. 

"So Mead, I heard from the village elder, you're a bit of a prankster, aren't you?" She says and Mead complains about how she's acting as she knows him. She sits on her knees looking at him with a smile, "When I was little, I was a rascal too. My father was always scolding me, I wanted his attention so badly as he wasn't my real father," She starts, Meli and I look at her quietly as she continues to tell her story. "Once when I little, I climbed a tall tree in the garden to scare him, when he found out he turned really pale and climb up the tree after me. This man had never climbed a tree before in his life," Her smile fades, "Sure enough, he fell and got hurt. To this day, I've never forgotten that feeling, if my father had died that day-" She is cut off by Mead. 

"My mum and dad were travellers. Some years ago, when we arrived in Vanya they both fell ill and passed away. As I was all alone, the villagers raised me like I was one of their very own, I was so happy at first. But, I soon became jealous as I was never a part of any one's real family. I started lying and pulling pranks on them," He tells us.

Elizabeth interrupts him and I grind my teeth at her actions, "Is that why you put a bug in the Holy Knight's drink?" She asks and Meli pulls me onto his lap wrapping an arm around me.

I rest my head on his shoulder and drinks my wine leaning against him. I look at him and he winks at me, "NO!" Mead yells and Meli and I look over to the boy, "He was looking down on us all! Everyone in the town puts all their time and energy into making good ale and that knight... Says it tasted like horse piss and he goes and confiscates it from us as taxes!" He bangs his fists on the table.

"The poor table," I comment quietly then Meli nudges me.

"Those Holy Knights are good-for-nothings bastards!" Mead says.

"So, that part about you knowing The Eight Deadly Sins?" I ask.

"It's not true," Mead admits.

"Too bad, I was kind of having my hopes up," Meli says and drinks his ale. 

"Then why would you tell a lie like that?" Elizabeth asks. 

"The Eight Deadly Sins, are being hunted down by the Holy Knight's right? If such evil knights are trying to get them, then that must mean that The Eight Deadly Sins are the good guys... right?" Mead questions. 

Elizabeth and Hawk look at Meli and me with smiles on their faces, "What?" We ask as I snuggle into his hold.

A yell came from the village and Mead ran off. I look at Meli, "Should we follow him honey?" I ask softly.

Meli nods then look at Elizabeth and Hawk, "Can you both give us a moment, please? It's important," He says and the two leave us alone, he looks at me seriously, "About earlier, I'm sorry... I'm sorry for my actions with her. You know I can't help it, but it still isn't fair on you. I'll try to resist more, I promise you that, or when I get the urge I'll do it to you rougher than what I'd do it to her," He smirks.

"Resist or do it to me, I don't care. I know you can't help it, honey," I hug him, "It still breaks me though, after all these years. I see you look at her and I break, I know it's a forced love and I know I'm the one who you'll love me forever. You've promised it and I know you love me, but, it hurts," I tell him.

Meli makes me look at him then kisses me slowly and passionately, "I love you and only you. We're forever, I promise you that. Now let's go."

I get up and the two of us walk to the village holding hands. We catch up with Elizabeth and Hawk soon enough.

We make it into the village again and see Mead and the village men trying to pull the sword out together, "Come on! Keep it up! The whole village could join in and it'd still do nothing!" The common knights say drinking ale. 

<Shall we, my love?> Meli says in our bond.

<We shall> I reply

The common knights laugh, "Just look at them! This is the best show to drink while watching!" They yell laughing their annoying heads off. 

Meli and I take their pints, "If you can't appreciate the taste," I start.

"You've got no right to be drinking it," Meli finishes and we down the rest of the ale as we approach the men.

The rope breaks and the men fall with Mead on top of them. We put the pints down, "Thanks for the drink!" We say and walk to the sword, taking hold of the hilt, "Sorry you guys, but we don't have any money..." I say and look at them.

"Will this cover the cost?" Meli grins and we both pull the sword out with ease. Meli wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me in with a grin, "You were amazing, sweetheart," He whispers and kisses my cheek.

"No way... Only a Holy Knight can extract that sword," The common knights say. 

The ground shakes and Meli holds me close protectively, I squeak being pressed up against him. My cheek fluster a little, "Hm? What's that sound?" The common knights say and then are suddenly thrown up in the air by the water returning and shooting out of the well making them so off somewhere.

Mead walks to Meli and me, "Hey, hey. Are you two actually-" He starts but Meli cuts him off.

"Now, now! Of course, we are the owners of a fine tavern," Meli turns him around pushing him to the villagers a little, "More importantly, there's still something left for you to do," He says.

Meli and I watch as the villagers apologise to Mead who tries to resist running to them. I give him a little push and he runs to them crying, "No matter what lies you tell, you can't lie to your heart," Meli says and I nod looking at him, "Like me at times with you," He whispers against my ear and I look down upset knowing I'll lose him again one day.

"Sir Meliodas, Lady Y/N," Elizabeth calls out.

"Anyway!" I say as I clap my hands causing everyone to look at me, "The Boar Hat tavern is open tonight, I say that everyone comes over to celebrate having your water system working once again. Meli and I will happily be your hosts for the night," I say with a smile.

The villager cheer for a night off working and for Meli and I giving them back their livelihood.
