-Third person POV-
Billy was leaning against his car, casually lighting his 3rd cigarette of the morning. He decided to arrive to school early in hopes to see the girl he met yesterday. His step sister, Max, stayed in the passenger seat deep in thought. She was still baffled by the girl who managed to hug Billy without being thrown off of him. He even patted her back. She never got a chance to talk to him about the girl or the strange interaction yesterday. Anytime she began to speak he would just turn up the volume to his car stereo as if she wasn't trying to talk to him. She pushed a strand of her fiery locks behind her ear and exited the car. "Can we talk?" She asked quietly. Billy released some smoke through the corner of his mouth not looking at the red headed girl. "About what?" He snapped. It didn't feel as aggressive as usual. His tone was different. The tone didnt make Max nervous. If anything, it made her more curious. "Who was that girl yesterday?" She prodded, grabbing her board from the back seat. "Some chick I have classes with." He said not really wanting to talk about his feelings with his stupid step sister. She scrunched up her face, obviously not pleased with his response. "Do you know her name?" She continued to pry. She knew that by his different tone he was in somewhat of a good mood and could probably get a few small answers out of him before he really gets agitated. He shrugged taking the cigarette away from his lips and exhaling the smoke. "I don't know. Why do you care?" He asked beginning to feel nervous with each one of Maxine's questions. He wouldn't show it of course. She simply shrugged walking over and standing next to him, also leaning against the car. He glanced down at her raising a brow. "Im just curious." She explained truthfully. It was quiet for a few seconds before Billy finally spoke up. "France." He said quietly. Max turned to him and looked up at him with a confused expression written on her face. "France." He repeated. "Its what her brother called her." He said remembering the boy from yesterday. "Like the country?" Max snorted. Billy waved his hand in the air in slight frustration. "I don't think its her actual name shithead! Its probably a nickname or some shit." He defended and watched as cars began to fill up the parking spaces. Max just rolled her eyes. "Okay well... why'd she hug you yesterday?" She hummed. Billy's brows furrowed at this question. He wasn't sure if he quite knew the answer either. "I helped find her brother and she was just thanking me." He answered. "Why were you being so nice? You like her or something?" Max asked beginning to press Billy's buttons. He watched as Steve Harrington parked towards the far end of the lot. Nancy Wheeler in his passenger seat laughing at something. "What? No." He said quickly defending himself. He wasn't lying. He didn't like her. He didn't even know her. But he couldn't deny that he did get a strange feeling in his stomach when she hugged him. The smell of her perfume was sweet and almost comforting. An aroma of cherries and vanilla. Her small frame against him made his stomach flip and churn. As cheesy as it sounds, he felt warm. Deep down, he wished he could feel it again. "So you want to get into her pants then?" Max continued to pry. Billy let out an agitated huff. "No." He growled. "Then whats up?" Max groaned, desperately wanting to know what was up with this random girl and Billy. Billy didn't answer her. He instead kept a hawk-like eye on Steve's car. Watching as the couple began to climb out of the vehicle. The back car door opened and revealed the girl he was waiting for. Once she was fully out of the car Billy couldn't tear his eyes away from her. She looked so... beautiful. A word Billy didn't use that much. A word that was almost unfamiliar to him. It felt foreign to him to even think of the word. Max saw a spark in Billy's eyes that she has only seen once before. It was the same look he had when he finally saved up and bought the Camaro. She hasn't seen him with that look since. The look of genuine happiness. Almost as if he was staring face to face with the best thing in the world. Max followed his gaze only to see the girl from yesterday getting out of a car and walking to the schools entrance with two other people. Max's lips curled into a smirk, now knowing exactly the answers to all her questions. Billy stayed quiet and kept his eyes on the girl. Max decided she was done interrogating him and dropped her board on the ground, hauling her book bag over her shoulder. "Well she seems nice. Id like to officially meet her sometime." She hummed hoping Billy would get the hint. He didnt. He just adjusted his jacket mumbling an 'mhm' as he made his way to the highschool entrance. Max rolled her eyes and skated towards the middle school to meet the group.
