MUMBAI

It was already late evening when the car stopped at shekhawat mansion, all of them stepped out and stretched their limbs after the tiring 4 hour journey. They had already had their dinner on the way but still none was sleepy due to excitement.

"Mai jaldi se jaake sanyukta ke swagat ki tayariyan dekhti hoon." Said renuka walking away.

After 10 minutes they were finally called for the ritual. Randhir was surprised to find all his extended family standing at the entrance with a wide smile. Sanyukta immediately covered her head with her pallu and started doing her part of a new bride.

She followed all the rituals as they instructed her and everyone came forward to congratulate them once they had entered inside. Later they got busy with the introductions and taking blessings.

Once everything was done, she was escorted to randhir's room for rest but as soon as he was about to follow her, his cousins held him back and asked him to come with them.

"What is it?" He asked kinda impatiently.

"Don't you know? You can't sleep in your room for a month after you come home." One of them said with a straight face.

"What? What kind of a joke is this?" Randhir asked in horror.

"This is not a joke randhir you can ask anyone. You have to stay away from sanyukta for a month. It is a ritual." Another replied.

"What rubbish, i am not going to follow any stupid ritual." He shook his head vigorously.

"Ok go against the ritual. Par yaad rakhna, kaha jata hai ki jo couple yeh ritual follow nhi karta unki shadi zyada dino tak nhi tikti." Another one of them said with a dramatic shrug.

"But... But..." He couldn't find any words.

Suddenly there was a high pitched laughter followed by several others and within seconds all the people in front of him were laughing like lunatics holding their stomachs, one of them had also fallen down due to excessive laughing.

"What the hell guys, this is not a joke. You seriously scared me there for a second." Randhir scowled furiously.

The eldest cousin of his composed himself and kept a hand on his shoulder.

"Sorry bhai but hum sab tumhari situation jaante hai, toh hum bas check karna chahte the ki tum genuinely usko pasand karte ho ya phir bas childhood marriage ka baggage samajhte ho." He said in a gentle tone.

"Of course mai genuinely usse pyaar karta hoon. Haven't you met her? How can i not love her?" He said in frustration.

"Hum toh sirf like ki baat kar rhe the, yeh janaab toh already love pe hai." His younger sister teased him.

Randhir blushed lightly at her comment and opened his mouth to retort but was stopped by his mother's voice.

"Tum sab mere bete ko tang mat karo aur rannu tu bhi kya inke saath gossip kar rha hai, apne kamre mei jaa, sanyukta wait kar rhi hogi." She chided them.

"Ok mom, three things. First of all,mai jaa hi rha tha inn logo ne mujhe rok liya. Secondly, hum gossip nhi kar rhe the and finally, STOP CALLING ME RANNU." Randhir told her with a balloon face and stomped away.

"Huh bada aaya, rannu kahika." Renuka twisted her lips and went away as well.

Randhir reached his room and took a few deep breaths before entering inside. He looked around the room to find it completely decorated for his first night but the one he had to celebrate it with was nowhere in vision. He frowned when he found the room empty but then a cool breeze touched his face and he looked towards the balcony door only to find it open and his beautiful wife standing outside.
