I thought about today during the whole boat ride back to the villa.
I had seen a side of the somewhat emotionless tattooed boy I had never even hoped to see.
A side that I wish could permanently be around. But Aaron was like a ticking bomb. Except no one, let alone me, could diffuse the bomb that he incarnated.
You could compare him to a lot of things.
Like the weather. No matter how much you prepare and look at the forecasts, at the end of the day, it isn't something you control. It can, and will change at the very last minute.
The boat came to a halt. Plunged into the night, the villa was automatically lit up by its lights.
We both thanked Gerald and walked in.
It was slightly chilly, but still humid and warm, a breeze coming from the sea beneath us, made goosebumps appear all over my exposed skin.
As we got into the villa, I immediately warmed up. Aaron was about to walk up the stairs, with a weary expression.
Before I could realize it, I couldn't keep my mouth shut, as always, and found myself saying words that I knew wouldn't please him."You should be more like you were today."
Aaron stopped dead in his tracks, turned around to face me, and shot me a look so cruel I almost ran away, but I stayed put.
"Great, I loosen up one fucking day and you already think you have the right to tell me how I should act?" He spat out coldly at me.
"No, I just thought, that I'd talk to you about it... That's what friends—"
"Friends? You're my friend?" He laughed incredulously and threw his head back.
Even though full of hatred, his laugh still seemed to calm and mesmerize me in a certain way.
He walked over to me, cupped my chin, and brought my head up to look at him. If I hadn't known better, I would've thought that he actually wanted to kiss me.
I laughed internally at the thought.
The coldness in his eyes brought me back to reality.
"You and I aren't friends. We never will be friends, and you'll never get to a point in my life where you can act like you know what's best for me." He seethed.
It hurt. Like a punch to the chest. I actually believed that we had gotten past the point of our disputes.
But what can I say? This is Aaron Romano we're talking about.
"What about everything that's happened today and the other days? What was that?" I asked, clearly annoyed. I jerked my head away from his warm touch.
"Boredom." He said coldly.
The word he pronounced ignited rage deep inside me.
"Boredom? Are you fucking serious?!" I shouted out.
Aaron looked at me, cluelessly.
"I'm just trying to be a good person, trying my best to get to know you, and yet you keep pushing me away, you keep doing it with so much hatred! I'm done with being treated like shit you prick!" I felt the salty tears fall onto my face and enter my mouth.
Before I realized it I was sobbing.
I had no idea why. I had always been a calm person, it took more than some random guy I met two seconds ago to make me feel this vulnerable."I'm going back home tomorrow." I said softly before walking up the stairs towards the room.
"Havoc-"
