I've always been a fan of tragedies, specifically the 'sicklit' genre. I always thought that maybe it's either I had an illness or I've been some kind of a disease in my past life. It's just that there's something in it that makes you wanna hold on... that makes you wanna come back for more.
Then I met John Green, the great John Green.
I was fascinated with his ideas, the way he depicts human complexity in a different perspective. Since then, I've always been a fan of his works, especially The Fault in our Stars which just happens to be one of the most heart-wrenching novels I've both read and watched (I'm still mourning for you Gus. huhu)
Then there's also Paper Towns, which is also pretty badass. (Believe me... Margo is my type of heroine.)
It's also a great way to challenge myself because I always dreamt to write something that involves puzzles and mysteries, the adventure and the likes. Then I thought, why not combine all of those?
And then... voila!
So that gave birth to You Found Me.
This is probably one of the works that I've written with ease. I've finished its first draft for only a month, I only encountered conflict during the final editing because I had to balance it with my schooling.
I wanted to thank all of you for giving this novel a chance despite all the other good stories out there and for sticking until its very end. You just don't realize how much I appreciate it.
Giving y'all my love, as always,
- Dani
