LIGHT'S OUT

I took for granted the light that was there,
For when I closed my eyes all was dark here
And when I opened it there was nothing there.
The light was gone and I wasn't prepared.

Then the doubts set in,
The things I knew for sure were no longer holding up.
I was lost in my thoughts and lost in the world,
My search for the light had yielded naught.

Now the dark feels like the norm,
The memory of the light I can't recall.
I know I should be worried and all
But this feeling isn't exactly wrong.
