Chapter 28

A month later, my dad was all moved into the duplex. It was great. Ruby moved in the week after and they both hosted a sort of house warming bbq. It was fun. All of our closest friends showed up. There was music and alcohol and tons of food. And then of course a good day has to get ruined by something or someone. It's just Murphy's law right?  Around 6pm in the evening we had an uninvited guest show up. Yup. Mary Margaret made a grand entrance. She knocked over the CD player and everyone looked her way. Dad walked quickly up to her. "What the hell are you doing here?  I want nothing to do with you".  "You are still my husband David and I will fight you on this" she throws some papers at him and they scatter. "It's over Mary Margaret. Deal with it. The way you have been acting towards my daughter is unforgivable".  "Oh stop it David. She or he's not your child. You made us adopt....that". She looks at me waving her hand.  I don't want to hear anymore so I take my daughter inside the house, but unfortunately I can still hear everything. "You shut your mouth Mary Margaret. You are not wanted here. You are not wanted in anyone's life here. Leave now before I have you thrown out".  "Such big talk for a little man". I hear her laugh. "No wonder we couldn't have kids".  I hear her laugh again. I'm not sure what happens next because I'm not outside but it's only a few minutes later that Regina comes in to check on me. Angie and I are sitting in my dads living room. I put a cartoon on for her. "Emma.  Are you ok?"  "Yeah babe I'm fine why?"  "I know you heard what Mary Margaret said and it had to hurt my love". I shrug. "It is what it is Regina. Yeah it hurt but what can I do about it?  I try not to believe all the words I've heard throughout my whole life, but when it really comes down to it what they are saying isn't wrong. How do I classify myself?  Am I male- am I female? Should my daughter call me mommy or daddy? I don't even know the answer to any of that. My birth parents new I was different from the start and they left me behind a firehouse. If it wasn't for some landscaper I'd probably be dead. Maybe that's how it should have happened".  "Emma Swan. What the hell is wrong with you?"  Regina yells at me. I laugh. "What isn't wrong with me?"   "How can you say all this? You are the best person I have ever known, and I've known you since we were 7 years old". I just shrug and look at my daughter who's sitting on the floor watching tv. "I'm sorry Regina. Sometimes things just get to me and I over analyze everything. Please forgive me?"   "I will forgive you as long as you stop thinking those negative thoughts about yourself".   "It'll be hard, but I'll try".  "That's all I ask Emma is that you try".  My dad comes running in shouting. "Emma. Emma. Where are you?"  "In the living room dad".  "Oh thank god. Are you ok sweetheart?"   He asks as he kneels next to me. "Yes I'm fine".  "Mary Margaret is gone. Sheriff Hunter arrested her for public disturbance and trespassing. Are you really ok Emma?"   "Of course dad. I'm always ok".  Regina looks at me and I know she wants to call me out on my lie but she doesn't. We all go back outside and listen to some music and have a few drinks. It turned out to be a great party. I did drink to much but I didn't do anything stupid.
It took a few weeks but David and Mary Margaret eventually went to court for the divorce. David was awarded the divorce but of course Mary Margaret wanted alimony, which she got because they had been married for over 20 years. David Really didn't care he was just happy he was done with it. The day after everything was final he asked Kathryn out on their first official date. It was really cute how nervous he was. The next morning I called asking how things went. He said it was really nice and that's all he would say about it. I'm sure there is more to it than 'really nice'. I have a feeling that Kathryn was still with him when I called.

Time Jump  about 8 months

"Shit I can't stop shaking".   "Ems try and relax. Take some deep breaths". My best friend Ruby says to me. "I can't Ruby I'm scared to death".  "Of what?  You are about to marry an amazing woman. You both love each other. Why are you freaking out?"   "I don't know. I just feel scared. I do love Regina with everything I am but what if I'm not good enough for her?"   "Emma those are just your insecurities talking. I know you love her and I absolutely know that she loves you. Taking this step is the right thing Em". She gives me a hug and it's very comforting. After a few minutes and a few deep breaths we separate. "Your right Ruby. Today I will marry the woman I love, who just so happens to love me in return".  "That's my girl". She smiles and we hug again. There is a knock at the door and the wedding planner comes in. "Are we ready in here? Things are all set to start".  "Yes. I'm definitely ready". I say to her. She smiles and tells us to follow her. We walk out into the hall and I take my place at the alter with Ruby by my side. The minister comes out and we shake hands. The wedding planner goes back down the aisle and through the doors. Just a moment later the music starts and I see Regina's maid of honor Belle start walking down the aisle. Angelica was our flower girl and she nailed it. She pranced down the aisle throwing flower petals everywhere. Then there was Regina. I swear to god I have never seen her look more beautiful than she did walking down the aisle to me. She was walking to me. She stood right in front of me and I couldn't stop the tears that fell from my eyes. "I love you Regina". I said out loud for everyone to hear. She smiled at me and I could hear the minister chuckle. "Well I'm glad to hear that Emma because that's why we are all here". There was a quiet laughter from our guests. They ceremony went perfect. We exchanged rings and professed of love for each other and then it was time for me to kiss the bride, which I was more than happy to do. The reception was amazing. We picked out the perfect song for us. It was actually called "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. That lyric in the song that says 'We were just kids when we fell in love, I will not give you up this time'.  I swear that's so about us. We fell in love at a young age but we were too scared to say anything, but here we are now. We are married. I have a beautiful daughter that loves Regina as her mommy. I know she's still young, but we are trying to tell her about Zelena all the time. She deserves to know who is her mother, even if she can't be with us anymore. Angelica was so cute during the ceremony. When the reception was nearing the end my dad said he would take Angie to his place so Regina and I could be alone at home before we leave on our honeymoon.
